Hilltop Grind Cafe — Restaurant in Nairne

I'm sure that the staff are friendly but unfortunately the man who served me was a bit too "friendly" and straight forward with me who has never been there before and didn't even know him. I felt a bit stressed and instead of him being calm and patient with me, he made me feel like I was a nuisance and would constantly question me which made it very difficult for me to make a decision. I was trying so hard to collect myself but I felt so pressured and it seemed to bother him that I couldn't make up my mind. If he just refrained from his comments and straight forward behaviour and just treated me with grace I would have felt a lot more comfortable. A word of advice from someone who has been in customer service for many years, don't assume people will be at the same emotional level as you. Some people have mental conditions, some with anxiety, some with different backgrounds and upbringings, you never know. So when you greet someone, make sure you show empathy and try to read them before jumping into your own comfort zone and think that the other person will also be comfortable because of your own confidence. I'm not saying I don't recommend this place. I'm sure there are a lot of nice things to experience here and that many people love to come here. Just went in for the first time today with my son for Valentine’s Day. Ordered a generous amount of things just for the two of us. The custard tart was old and my drink was all curdled. My sons milkshake was nice and he enjoyed his pop top. Now the only reason I’m leaving a bad review is because the way the employees dealt with me bringing my mocha back was really just not great. The man didn’t speak at all to me or apologise and the lady didn’t apologise just got frustrated and made excuses for why it looked how it did. I’ve had frappes before and iced mochas and this was curdled milk. She then asked if I wanted her to mix it up for me. I said no and she said fine and walked away. No apology no offer for refund. I discovered this wonderful coffee shop recently and enjoyed a delicious mushroom omelette for lunch from their special board. Visited again this afternoon and the owner was kind enough to make me the mushroom omelette for lunch even though it wasn't on their menu but simply because I said how much I enjoyed it last time.
