Visited the Bluebird cafe today - ordered a wrap. The service was great. However, I am not impressed with food safety.
Between the time that the employee was serving customers and making my wrap I did not once see them wash their hands.
Specifically, from touching the cash register/money and eftpos machine to than making my food.
There was no use of gloves.
Sticking their hands into the packet of cheese, and touching the wrap itself.
Whilst making the wrap -the employee was also touching different parts of the kitchen.
For instance, putting their hands into a sink to get utensils out, moving power cords away from the sand which press, turning the kitchen tap on and off, and opening and closing the fridge.
As a customer, I don’t know what was last placed into the sink - I don’t know when the last time the kitchen was throughly cleaned and I don’t know if the power cords are dusty. Nor don’t I know when the cash register was wiped cleaned or where the money that the customers are handing the employees had been prior to them receiving it. I don’t know.
I acknowledge that they have a food safety certificate on the wall. However, that is a snapshot in time. Namely at the time when they received it. It does not mean that their standards are always going to be on par with what is expected.
Long story short, I tossed the wrap away. The standards of food and safety need to be increased.

They have a selection of sandwiches, pies and sausage rolls, hamburgers, Muffins etc, and a selection of teas and coffee. I had a pie and mocha which was good. The Mocha was actually excellent. My Mum had a sandwich and tea which she enjoyed. The cafe is kept very neat and tidy, and the staff...
Read moreThe coffee is good and the location is convenient for the train station. The problem was when I went here for lunch with family we had a hard time ordering food as the kitchen was out of so many ingredients - chicken, wedges, sour cream. Each menu item we asked for we were told to pick something else as they were out. Nearly half the menu is chicken so our choices became quite limited. This wouldn't have been so bad but while we were there and before we ordered a staff member came in with bags of groceries for the kitchen. Yet still they did not have...
