We stopped at this cafe for lunch as it had a nice vibe. Unfortunately, we ordered two similar burgers: the “Hometown burger” which had a carrot sauce, and the “Deluxe beef burger” which had bbq sauce and a fried egg. The food arrived quickly, but we found the fried egg had been put in the wrong burger. We initially thought to just move it over but it was covered in carrot sauce. I took the Deluxe burger (pictures, missing the fried egg) back to the counter to the same lady I ordered with and she said she’ll get the kitchen to add the egg. A couple of minutes later, she came back out (with the burger) and said I’ve mixed up the burgers and pointed to the Hometown burger with the egg in it. We had to lift the buns to show her the sauces and point out the kitchen must have put the egg in the wrong burger. She left in a bit of a huff, no apologies offered. Some minutes later, I got the Deluxe burger back, this time with a barely cooked fried egg. I like sunny-side eggs just fine but a yolk this runny in a burger meant it went everywhere. By the time I got the burger back, it was also starting to get a bit cold. The other thing - I had asked for extra bbq sauce on the side (for the shoestring fries) when I ordered, it didn’t come with the food and I asked again when I went to the counter. I never got the bbq sauce. Also had to ask for cutlery. The food itself was okay but nothing brilliant. The beef patty in the burger was rarer (very pink) than what you’d like to see in a burger, which explains how the food came out so fast. The coffee was decent. Overall, would...
Read moreOrdered the 'Bonjour 21' breakfast item adding avocado, really disappointed at the serving size and quality, eggs tasted cold, served on a miniature woollies croissant with two skerricks of salmon, no avocado, looks like they spent longer plating it up with a wreath of alfalfa so it was served cold...at $24.50 the price didn't reflect the expected serving size or quality.
Understanding you guys are busy, but there's loads to be improved upon here;
Consider providing table service so you can control the flow of orders to the kitchen.
Analyse transfer of orders from the till to the kitchen, it looks like the staff manually ticket each order individually, so multiple orders for the same table don't go out more or less at the same time.
Kitchen needs to step its game up, my friend had the big brekky and it was cold in parts/very underwhelming portion for a full sized adult.
Went back to the front desk to ask for the avocado to be credited against a cappuccino, barista was overwhelmed so just ended up giving me a separate coffee order that another customer hadn't picked up.
Would return for the sake of giving these folk a chance but it won't be soon.
Strongly consider offering table service, it...
Read moreUnfortunately my husband and I had a really disappointing experience at Hometown Cafe today. We were happy to overlook some minor issues, such as the time it took for a staff member to acknowledge us when we first arrived, being brought the wrong meals twice and the lengthy wait for our meals. We were really disappointed when, after a 40 minute wait, my husband’s meal came out cold (chicken burger with a side of fries) and my meal was missing a main ingredient (smashed avocado). The waitress who served us was unapologetic and kept saying ‘they’re really busy in the kitchen’. We were told we would have to wait 15 minutes for my husband’s meal to be cooked fresh, which seemed excessive. Having already waited so long, he just opted for fresh fries. My plate came back with some small slices of avocado, so I ended up with a meal that looked like a few ingredients haphazardly thrown together on a plate. One positive was the drinks, which were nice, but I would strongly recommend...
