Chopstix — Restaurant in New South Wales

We went for some Chinese at Avoca, not been before & after trying a few Chinese restaurants on the coast that were pretty average this was the best yet! It reminded me of the old days stepping into the classic 70's chinese 'cafe', with an open kitchen, all the family involved from grandfather & grandmother down to the grandkids, was lovely to see. 👨‍👨‍👧‍👦 With woks clanking, making our authentic cuisine, we began with yummy sweet corn & crab soup, so good, so tasty with chucks of crab that melted in the mouth! Next were veggie spring rolls, large fresh & crunchy with the best plum sauce ever! Succulent satay chicken skewers were so delicious, hot & spicy goodness, then came the juicy prawn cutlets with a wonderful crumb, they were a massive hit with a squeeze of fresh lemon! I was in food heaven! 🥰🥢 Then came the sizzling hot plate of delicious Mongolian lamb, oh my this is a must try, it was so tasty, melt in the mouth soft fillets of lamb in that divine sauce they make, authentic deliciousness in every bite! Awesome fried rice, the best Ive had on the coast! Steve chose tofu in ginger & shallot sauce, it was to die for! The tempura tofu melted in the mouth, with the sweet perfume of ginger & crunchy fresh veg was exceptional! Wow! We were delighted with Chopstix, great service, great food, great atmosphere, all for $100 & leftovers we took home! Yes, we will be back! 10/10!...

Absolutely LOVE Chopstix! And can not recommend them enough! I usually order for pick up, but when I do come into the restaurant to dine, the ambience is contemporary, warm, and inviting. I highly recommend anything done in their satay (with a side of fresh lemon to squeeze over). Their deep fried tofu is amazing, so if you are vegetarian or looking for a meat free dish on the side...highly recommended! Their vegetables are always fresh, and food is bursting with flavour (Chinese fusion but also with other asian influences)....Their portion sizes are very generous, and they are accommodating to special orders/order adoptions. The manager/owners are very friendly and always happy to accommodate. We’ve eaten a few times here and whilst the food is pretty good, the service is really disappointing. Tonight we ordered $85 of food, prawn chips were missing and we called straight away. Person answering said they would drop them round. 45 mins later and still no sign of prawn chips so I called back - same person answered and seemed to have no recollection of saying they’d drop them round. She really snidely asked if I’d like the $3 refunded or the chips to be delivered in “maybe” 30 mins (1.5 hours after the rest of the order arrived). I know it might seem small to them but it was an important part of the meal for us and the kids. Anyway, won’t be bothering again, there are other tasty Chinese restaurants around that have better service we’d rather give...
