Hi Tide Takeaway Avoca Beach — Restaurant in New South Wales

Ordered takeaway seafood and unfortunately everything from the service to the food was disappointing. We usually get our seafood from another shop in Avoca, but after seeing some good reviews, we decided to give this place a try.

The girl serving us was not very pleasant, and we waited around 30 minutes for our order. Instead of giving tickets or taking names, they simply yell out the contents of each order, which makes it confusing and easy to miss yours.

I’d read that the potato scallops were highly recommended, so we ordered a few, but they were very underwhelming. The batter was thick, greasy, and the potato inside wasn’t cooked through. The calamari was probably the best item we tried, but the fish had the same thick, oily batter which tasted strangely sweet—almost like donut batter. Even the crab claws, which I usually enjoy, had an odd taste.

omg since the old owners left this takeaway us absoloutly disgusting i travelled all thw way from Newcastle not noing old owners had sold it when I arrived i placed my usual order their it was made in literally 2 seconds i was given raw burgers and made wrong and not how i ordered them i took them back and they re made them again in 2 seconds i was weary of eating as it had been served raw i pulled about the chicken to find pink meat with blood and guts i was mortified the 14 years old had nothing but attitudes and the owners were so rude i could hear them talking about me being pregnant im not going to risk my unborn child i have called the council as its a hazard so so so so sad the old owners left they were the best burgers ever now its the worst in australia -100 it...

I have eaten at this take-away regularly for years and had high hopes when the new owners took over a few months ago. The food has been fine up until my last two visits. A couple of weeks ago, I ordered a burger was disappointed to see that they have started using frozen patties so small it was lost among the other fillings. They are thin and bland - like a Macca's burger, but with less flavour. Yesterday I ordered fish cocktails that smelled and tasted so overpowering that I was afraid to finish them. I would describe the fish yesterday as disgusting and I had to throw them out. After washing my hands twice, the smell of the fish lingered still! What's wrong with serving fresh food?
