This was a theme night and therefore a set menu. Last night was Italian from Northern Italy, that sounded very nice although the Chef insisted on calling Venezia, Venitz. Firstly the Owner speaks for too long, then handballs onto the Chef, who gives an explanation of the first course. This goes on for all three courses (sigh). After a wait that was far too long, our first course arrived, it was Risotto, it was quite tasty but lacked real flavour, I think the addition of truffle oil would had made it more flavoursome. In the meantime time dragged on and one couple had left as they couldn't wait and had to pick up their child. They, we all had, been waiting for 2 hours at this time.
After 21/2 hours the main course arrive after much heralding which was repeated again out our table. It was slow roasted Cup of beef. We were led through chapter & verse as to how beautiful this cut of meat was, I was to be disappointed. Mine was dreadful, although it had nice flavours the texture was tough as old boots and I never ate it. Just to confirm it wasn't me, another on our table tasted it and agreed, it was tough & inedible. HOWEVER the others on the table enjoyed theirs. Perhaps I was the unlucky one? When I complained, obviously the owner was not happy and offer another steak, but the magic had gone.
Third course, after great fanfare, finally arrived which was Tiramisu which was delightful. Finally the coffee came and we were out of there about 4+ hours after we arrived!
To sum up, would I go again? That would be No, I think it is one of those places that people will tire of the excessive wait times and they end up drinking too much without adequate food intake. The place is far to noisy and even sitting at a table of 5, 90% of the conversation is taken away with white noise so you ended up sitting there and looking around unable to carry on a conversation. The Owner is very loud so he also contributes to the incredible...
Read moreFahrenheit used to be my favourite cafe but after today’s disastrous Mother’s Day breakfast we won’t be back. We booked a table, confirmed and showed up on time. After ordering our food a waitress asked if she could move us to a table for 2. We were a party of 3 including a toddler. I explained if there wasn’t space to move stuff out of my toddlers reach it would end up on the floor. The waitress said ok and then a manager approached us.
The manager said she had to move us as she had a party of 10 who were being difficult and she can’t miss out on 10 paying guests. No apologies or manners, she was really rather rude and oblivious to how rude she was being. I wanted to leave there and then but hubby convinced us to stay and eat.
What a terrible decision that was. The quality has dropped significantly. The food was lukewarm, eggs were soggy and the bread was just average. This cafe is expensive and when the quality is good I don’t mind paying the money. But after this meal we wished we’d gone somewhere else.
Hubby asked if cafe had changed ownership. The manager confirmed it has, I suspect they’ve changed suppliers as well as the ingredients aren’t up to scratch. He complained about the service and food and she blew him off saying she’s just trying to keep everyone happy. Well we weren’t happy and I doubt anyone dining there today is happy either.
She said she was short staffed and overbooked, coming from the manager that sounds like a self induced problem. She made no comment about the food not being up to scratch. Such a disappointment especially on Mother’s Day. My husband was so let down he offered to take me somewhere else to make up for it. The old owners were fantastic. The food and service was on point and it’s sad to see what the new owners have done with the place. Avoid, unless you like paying through the nose for average food and...
Read moreBeen to Fahrenheit several times but not for a couple of years. We've always thought it above average but today's visit was a real let down.
Counter service with no table numbers. Generally cafes with counter service give you a table number to display on your table. A tried and true system. Fahrenheit does not do this. So every 2 or 3 minutes you have a server come to your table and ask if you've ordered the items they have in their hand. They go from table to table pestering you until they find the correct table. Latte was very poor. And a decent amount of it was in the saucer, probably due to the waiter going table to table to find the lucky recipient. Person at the table next to us ordered a large cap, took a few sips and left. If I wasn't so in need of a caffeine hit I'd have done the same. Food was okay. Egg was so undercooked the yolk and some of the egg white spent the meal as a sticky pool at the bottom of the plate, meaning I had to hold the roll in my hand the entire time because putting it down would have meant drowning it in half cooked egg yolk. The sauce I asked for on my roll was not present. No salt and pepper was on the table and none was offered. Hashbrowns were the square frozen ones found in supermarkets Service. Poor. Servers come out with food going table to table to offload it and then walk in empty handed despite passing tables that oviously needed to be cleared. In 30 minutes not one table was wiped down after they were eventually cleared. And seriously, when taking an order please LISTEN. "I'd like a small latte". "sure, what size?". "small". "Ok, so one small cap"........ "ARGH!!!!"
For a cafe that frequently makes the list of "best cafes on central coast" this was a very poor showing. With so many excellent cafes nearby I doubt...
