After a long and tiring journey I arrived at Coffs Harbour seeking a caffeine hit to keep this weary driver awake.
"Gloria Jeans", the sign caught my attention as I entered the sleepy little costal town from the South. I remembered Gloria Jeans from my youth; not a schwanky trendy cafe that one night find in the inner city but none the less a step up from McDonalds and certainly a beacon of light in an otherwise desolate rest stop.
"Yes, this will do fine" I remarked as I parked my Kia and let the engine rest after some 300 odd KMs of driving.
I walked in. Alas; Gloria was less than Glorious. Rubbish on the ground, flies buzzed in the air. I ignored this and made my way to the counter. "One Espresso Chiller please my good sir" The drink came quickly and with a smile. "Well that's more like it" I thought, as I made my way back to my vehicle.
The journey continued through Coffs. I began to slurp down on my delicious treat. "hmmmm" I thought "A bit syrupy. A bit too much cream" Something else was wrong though. Something was very wrong.
Then I noticed it. Wings. A small little body with legs. A bug was in my drink. "What the devil!?" I almost spewed "I ordered this meat free!" I exclaimed "Curse you Gloria Jeans!"
The drink was ruined. Tired and caffeine free I continued my trip, my afternoon would never be the same. Gloria Jeans...
Read moreReceived terrible customer service yesterday afternoon. The young lady at the register did not greet us, or ask for our order, or thank us. She stuck out the eftpos machine for payment then walked away. Not a word was spoken by her. I ordered coffee's to "have here" they came out in takeaway cups. I'm assuming they were doing "have here" orders as the tables had dirty mugs on them from other patrons. Both young ladies working yesterday afternoon need to be retrained on basic customer service skills. I'm not sure who is responsible for the bins outside the doorway to the store but they were so full they had overflowed onto the pavement. If the store was busy, I would be more lenient, but there was only 1 other customer who had already received their order and no other customers entered whilst we were there which was approx 15 minutes. To add to our dissapointment the coffee...
Read moreOrdered two coffees which were good. Re entered store to purchase two pre made sandwiches. The young girl who served us on both occasions was friendly enough but rather than just handing the sandwiches across the counter to us when we were standing right in front of her she took them to the end of the counter and just sat them there without saying anything. We quickly realised on starting to our sandwiches that there was no butter/margarine on them which made them hard to swallow. My husband only ate half of his for that reason. Would only ever purchase coffee from there in future. After reading reviews from as far back as 12 months ago it doesn't seem as though much has changed so buyer beware! No one seems interested in picking up the quality of...
