Golden Food Thai Restaurant — Restaurant in New South Wales

Ripped off! Was charged $32.50 for 1 Massaman curry & 1 small steamed rice (no drink). The takeaway menu lists the Massaman for $18 and small steamed rice for $5. I ate at the restaurant & understand there may be some mark up in price, but not a mark up of $9.50! Before I received the bill, I was prepared to leave a tip. I ended up leaving feeling cheated. Instead of immediately writing a negative review, I called the Australian man who I assume is the owner/manager of the restaurant. This is the same guy who took both my order and payment. When I asked what the price of my meal should have been, he said $21.50 for the Massaman and $6.90 for the steamed rice. He then calculated the two amounts and subtracted it from $32.50 and said he owed me $3.50 so he's incapable of doing simple arithmetic. The menu offered a wide variety of authentic Thai dishes, each bursting with flavour and freshness. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive, guiding us through the menu and offering excellent recommendations. We tried several dishes, including the garlic rice and Green Curry, and each one exceeded our expectations. The presentation was impeccable, and the portions were generous. Excellent food and service. Given that it was New Year’s Day and everything else was closed, we were so impressed with the service. Upon entering we were greeted with a smile, and we’re told that there was a possibility that it would take 40-45 mins for the food to be ready- not an issue being that we stumbled across the place while looking for something open. After we placed our order, the owner told us that he would see what he could do about getting it out sooner. While we waited, the owner chatted away to us while taking multiple phone calls for orders -nothing was too difficult- and within 25 mins our entire order was fresh and ready.
