Hungry Jack's Burgers Glendale — Restaurant in Newcastle-Maitland

Summary: Big chain but great food, just don’t go there late in the night.

My Order: Large Original Jack’s Fried Chicken Burger Meal (No Lettuce, add Cheese) including chips and raspberry fanta.

Actual Review: Great place all round, i’ve just had consistent problems with the workers when ordering after 8pm (or so) as they always mess up my order. Not only that, but their customer service is appalling and I have to wait ages for food. One time, I was in the drive-thru for 10-15 minutes (“fast” food 🙄) without any prompt to move to a waiting bay. Not only that, they forgot to add cheese (which costs extra by the way), used the complete wrong sauce, kept the lettuce on the burger, half-filled the drink and forgot to add salt on. That’s not even including all the other times that i’ve had problems from there. In the last 5 times i’ve been there (past 8pm), it’s always had problems. You’ll know when you’re going to have a bad time because the drive-thru girl always says, “…and coke for the drink?” despite people having preferences for the drinks.

Notes: It’s 3.5 stars during the day and 2 stars during the night. Averages out to 3. It’s a big chain, it’s bound to have problems but no where near as many problems as other big chains. The chips are some of the best in the fast food industry. Much better than maccas and slightly better than KFC (since they add salt 95% of the time compared to KFC’s 75%) The burger is quite expensive but it is a good quality burger. You can tell it’s worth the price at first bite. A budget-friendly option is always the Chicken Royale, which is much cheaper (but also lower quality) The drinks are always quite good, even if they are syrup based drinks. One of the absolute worst experiences I've had with any service in my life. Workers there are so rude and nonchalant. On several occasions they have gotten my order wrong, on one occasion they got the order wrong twice. First the order came with the wrong burger which I noticed when I was in the store then I told them, they showed no remorse, sympathy or apologized at all and gave me back what I thought would have been the corrected order. After I got home I realised that they had completely removed a burger from my order. Went from the wrong burger to no burger. I drove back told them what had happened and they looked at me like they had never seen me before, surely they'd remember the guy whose order they just got wrong less than half an hour ago. Unless they do this all the time, and quite frankly I think they do it intentionally, for sport, to maybe see just how much they can stretch it to pass people off. because the frequency of it all, the amount of complaints that come through it's unbelievable how they just never change. It's disgusting. I am never ever ordering from this place again and I would strongly advise everyone else...

Do not eat here if you have allergies!

Ordered a tropical whopper burger for my dad, specifically said “no mayo please as there is a severe allergy to egg”. I opened up the burger and checked the top to make sure there was no mayo, there wasn’t! Drove home to give it to my father, he opened the burger to double check, lifted the patty and there was an egg in the middle of the burger. This burger does not come with an egg! A staff member had put it there.

I’m assuming this was done due to the staff mishearing, even though I said “NO mayo, ALLERGIC to egg”

There have been multiple occasions where this Hungry Jacks have put mayo on burgers when we have specifically asked them not to. We do not have this issue at other locations.

Called to notify the manager of this and to submit a complaint but wasn’t offered a refund as the person in the check out did not give me a receipt.

PLEASE do allergy training with your staff. It can be a life or death situation.

Most of these issues would be rectified if you told the staff to repeat the order to the customer...
