KFC Warners Bay — Restaurant in Newcastle-Maitland

The first time I was the only one in the drive-through at 9:00pm, it was dead. I ordered an ultimate box, and as soon as I finished paying I was told to park out the front and they would bring it out for me. I was not given a receipt, or asked if I wanted one.

I went and waited. 10 minutes.. 15 minutes.. still nothing. I saw people walking into the store and back out with food multiple times.

I drove back around the empty drive-through, only to be questioned if I was telling the truth, and if I had even placed an order! It took me getting my mobile bank statement up to prove I DID make the purchase.

If they'd bothered to give me a receipt I would have gotten my money back. I was just glad to get the hell out of there!

The second time I took a friend through the drive-through for JUST a zinger burger.

We drove up to the window only to be greeted by a girl who looked like she couldn't care less if she tried. Without saying a word, without any effort to make basic polite eye contact, she dozied up to the window, eyes-rolling, took the card, gave it back and promptly slammed the window in my face before disappearing for 10 minutes.

10 minutes later, she casually told us there's a further 10 minute wait on zinger fillets, so would we like a regular filet. I said yes, got the burger a couple minutes later and left.

Absolutely...

Today, I had the most euphoric experience at KFC Warners Bay. I ordered a Large Hot and Spicy Zinger Box with another burger and Regular Popcorn Chicken on the side. Even if I tried to find something wrong with my meal I wouldn't be able to. The box began with the most outstanding put-together burgers I've ever seen. Even the most experienced architects and engineers couldn't construct these masterpieces of burgers. The title of "Hot and Crispy" definitely adds up to the chicken that was in my box. The freshest, most succulent pieces of chicken I've ever consumed in my life. Coupled with the thick, flavourful and hot gravy, it turned out to be some sensational pieces of chicken. I ordered extra salt for the chips and the employees clearly heard that call and fabricated the best box of chips I've ever eaten. Again, hot and fresh just like everything else in the box. The Popcorn Chicken was on a whole other level. They were seasoned to the utmost perfection, crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside. Whoever was on shift today at around 2:45pm deserves to be on the next Masterchef Australia. The next time I walk into the store I'm expecting to see a Michelin Guide hung up on the wall. Really rough location for a fast food shop. Great location if you are shopping or live in the area, but it really takes you out of the traffic to just drop by and get lunch or dinner.

Getting back on Hillsborough Road takes a few minutes due to parallel access roads, inconvenient traffic lights and times, or driving 2km to the roundabout via the one way access roads on either side of Hillsborough Road. Possibly useful to bypass traffic at peak hour, but frustrating location if not used to the area.

Not especially within walking distance of the officeworks / good guys parking lot, or easily visible from the central parking area.
