I used to visit here often. It still is a great place but for some crazy reason every visit lately has had its issues.
The food can be very good or very bad. The service can be very good or very bad and some things just don’t seem to run correctly. And I don’t think its a staff issue, I think its a management problem. They couldn’t even turn the TV to the correct channel to watch the AFL grand final? And they advertised they were going to show it? They have messed up many of our meals, forgotten some or just fed me a piece of slow cooked chuck steak when in fact I had paid for eye fillet. I tried to turn a blind eye on the situation but I’m not going to anymore.
My advice is If you are considering going here for a meal, be aware its not consistent. I wouldn’t be meeting others for a special occasion. The wine menu isn’t bad, but having a bottle shop attached they should be doing better. You will find better options at many other restaurants in the vicinity. Again, this is a management fault or perhaps they don’t have good experienced bar staff that know their wine, nor do they seem to want to exceed expectations in restaurant...
Read moreTHE GOOD: Great staff, friendly and considerate even when they are often under pressure. New $15 blackboard meals a great addition, varied and tasty. Always good music playing in the background. Watching sports across the channels while music is playing makes it easy to relax in the lounge/bistro area. THE NOT SO GOOD: A constant complaint amongst patrons when chatting is the lack of awareness in the lounge/bistro area of sporting events showing on the many screens in the same bar. Many channels (FOX etc) but no variety of sports across them. EG: Constant NRL re-runs of the same shows for days (even weeks) on end or having a non-live same show on multiple screens THE NOT GOOD: Unfortunately in the lounge the music is often turned down early/mid afternoon to allow a single patron to listen to loudly played sports interviews or particular sports to the determent of other patrons there to eat or relax for the music. Often the volume overrides conversation at tables in the near vicinity of the screen.
Just a tweak required for comfort of patrons but still a good pub with good people and...
Read morewent there on tuesday for $5 steak night. we booked for 7pm. when we got there, we couldn’t find our name on the tables but we proceeded to order. we found our booking for Adam H on their list at the counter and saw that our table is 17. After we ordered, the table 17 was already occupied and with a different name on it. We didn’t know where to sit and was worried that if we take a different table, the meal would go to someone else. We asked if we could change our table number instead so they won’t get it mixed up and they said ok. We waited for an hour, it was already 8pm and we still didnt get our meal served. We told the staff and they just said oh sorry we’ll bring it to you asap, no explanation why it took so long or if they even took note that we changed our table number because they got it mixed up in the first place. we saw lots of guests who arrived later than us but getting served first because they totally forgot about our order. dont think that we’ll be...
