Not sure how this place gets the reviews it does in all honesty. Bedsides having a good kids area (but in need of a bloody good clean) A little supervision would be nice as well. As it’s impossible for patrons to control other peoples kids. If the parents of the children won’t do it, It really does fall on the venue. There is a sign stating children must be supervised. Well if they are not it would be nice for the venue to take even a small amount of control over the venue they are running. Including the kids area and play equipment.
Kids way to old for the equipment on it and running around at speed. My children were completely overwhelmed by the craziness of the older kids and pushed out of the way by the older kids. Considering there is a sign limiting the age, it’s a real shame the kids that are the right age for it get pushed out of the way by kids that should not be on it.
The food is fast but that’s all it has going for it, presentation relies on a nice plate, otherwise average and no better then many other pubs. Food is warm at best, salad not dressed and limp. Chips not crispy at all, wings are anaemic and flavourless with out the sauce. Sauce is definitely not prepared onsite. Table was wobbly and hard to sit at. Zero service really, order at the counter, pick up at the counter and then that’s the last you see of the staff. Not checked on at all, even if you did want to complain you would have to get up again and try to track someone down to it. Plates sat at the table after we finished for over half an hour. Tbh still sitting at the table after we left. Not a great experience at all and definitely not worth revisiting or...
Read moreSo disappointing. Being my 40th birthday I thought you know, you can't go wrong with the Ophir for a great feed....
Absolutely terrible. The Menu has changed, but never the less, ordered our food. The seafood risotto was steaming and lovely, missing some described key ingredients on the menu but it was quite nice. The bruschetta was quite delicious, fluffy bread and very tasty.
The side dish of salt and pepper squid... was not worth getting, it was bland and not even crunchy.
The worst dish... was the seafood board and it was absolutely terrible. Everything deep fried, over cooked and tasteless. And warm! ??!!) And not really much in the way of what you would expect for a seafood plate. Chips weren't very fresh or crunchy, looked old. 2 thin pieces of fish that were battered and so overcooked. 4 prawns that were crumbed and burnt! Squid on top was bland, and no crunch to the batter, worse than the side dish, and that's saying something! There were 3 fresh grilled prawns on top which was the only thing worth eating! I wish I took photos of everything to show, but I just didn't think of it. Was excited for a great meal and so disappointed for the massive let down. The kitchen staff certainly weren't the same as usual. And it really shows. For the price of our meals, it's an absolute rip off. And it will be a long time before I even consider coming back!
Such a shame, it was always a place we could go to but I can't say I'd recommend visiting here.
Oh, another thing, the drinks are expensive and not very good!
Off to see what else is around for...
Read moreWe stayed one night at the Ophir hotel. The room were lovely and provided with many basics. The rooms were clean, and there was an aircon and heater for cold and hot nights. However, we did struggle to find the accommodation at first. Since the hotel is connected to a pub and resteraunt, all the parking was full, and to book in, you need to go to the main bar and ask to book in. There is a sign when you walk into the resteraunt saying to book in through the bar, but we were confused nonetheless. We also ate in the connected resteraunt which js under the same business. The food was delicious, however, we asked for entrees first, and they made the entrees and mains all together which we weren't happy with since we had to rush to make sure things weren't cold. We also ordered dessert, and they asked us for our buzzer after we had mains. It turns out that they had forgotten our desserts, and it wasn't until I asked that they realised, which was very lucky since it was after the kitchen closing time and they were kind enough to make our desserts. All was delicious, except the chocolate sauce with the churros which was literally chocolate topping squeezed from a store bought bottle. We enjoyed the experience, but think it could be...
