I visited this excuse for a restaurant as a group of six, and as soon as we walked in the door we were made to feel unwelcome as anything.
After waiting to be seated, we were told by the charmless waiting staff that he “didn’t care where we sat”.
As a group of six, we were limited to only one bottle of water between us - a peculiar and baffling policy of a hill to die on, even when questioned upon this. There was no attentiveness from staff (once again) to make sure we had adequate water to accompany our food, and even when asking for drinks the service was slow and waits were long.
After a not-so-short wait for the food, we ate our food with which there were no major problems. However, the only thing that staff seemed eager to do was to quickly and unthoughtfully clear our plates while others of the group were still eating: rude, ignorant and inhospitable.
Not only this, which I could hardly believe, the staff even then brought over our bill without us asking whatsoever. This is while they had people waiting for tables, so no consideration whatsoever for current guests - just trying to churn through them and get them in and out of the door as possible.
The seats were wet, the table was dirty and the toilets were gruesome. When going to pay the bill (which we had to go up and pay, rather than the staff go to the courtesy of bringing to their guests’ table), I asked that each person pay for their respective items.
Unbelievably, I was told with no manners or decorum whatsoever that that simply wasn’t a possibility. That it was our problem, and that we either had to pay in one, or split the bill equally.
At this point, I decided it justifiable to bring up the poor experience we had been delivered. Rather than an apology, I was met with insolence and petulance from the older lady who was taking payment. She would not heed any ground and apologise, rather she opted to insult us and would not stop, even with intervention from management.
Rude staff across the board, average food that didn’t justify the price and an all round terribly run operation in this restaurant. Stay away, and choose to spend your...
Read moreWorst experience I've had in a long time. The restaurant was busy, which given the Labour day long weekend was expected. However, what wasn't good enough was the progression of the entry line which took 35 minutes to get into the restaurant but at no point were we spoken to or even given an estimate.
We were finally given a table for 2 at the back near the bathrooms, and then proceeded to be ignore for the following 35 minutes, no one checked on us or anything. Given we had said to the waiter when we were seated that we already knew what we were going to order. (Not hard when you're staring at the menu for 35 minutes before you're even seated).
What followed from there could only be considered a nightmare, we placed our orders and the food arrived within 15 minutes, the rigatoni was dry... how can a boiled pasta be dry unless it was heated under a grill. The cheese on top of the pasta looked and tastes like generic homeland tasty cheese and was absolutely disgusting.
The other food that was ordered was an Amatriciana pizza which tasted more like a ham cheese toasty than a pizza, and again had the same low budget tasty cheese on it, the only redeeming quality was the dough which was cooked well.
Finally we decided to get the food to take away as we wanted to go enjoy the sunset. After asking for the cheque and also for a takeaway container the waitress sighed and said "uhh for one piece of pizza?". I have never been more dissatisfied with customer service in a restaurant, the only reason I even took the pizza was because I didn't want to pay for something to be thrown in the bin.
Finally and perhaps the most absurd thing I've ever heard, we went and paid the bill only to find that each item was 10% more expensive because of a dine-in-charge, the prices on the takeaway menu said $20 for the pasta and $19 for the pizza. However the dine-in menu was $22 and $21? I'm sorry but why do I have to pay to dine in... is that a tip to waiting staff? That is absolutely absurd, the staff that served us deserved in all honesty to be fired.
DO NOT GO HERE. GO TO...
Read moreThis is literally my first review on here but I felt compelled after my experience with my partner tonight. I was looking forward to this visit as I myself am the head chef of a busy Melbourne restaurant so I very much look forward to restaurant visits and had heard great things. However the experience left me feeling upset and unwelcome. I called up earlier in the day to ask if I needed to make a reservation and was told no, upon arrival we were told there was no tables and were told to wait outside, that’s fine, they obviously had considerably more walk ins than expected. The manager who seated us was the one staff member who made us feel like we were welcome there. We were sat with a lovely view which is why im giving two stars instead of one. The older waitress that served us was cold and made us feel judged and unwanted, it was almost like she took one look at us and decided we weren’t “good enough” for the place, she was very short when answering questions about the menu and physically rolled her eyes at me when I started asking questions about the wine list. We ordered a garlic focaccia without mozzarella due to my partners vegan diet, we were presented with a burnt bland focaccia with no garlic, sea salt or any flavour whatsoever. We then received our mains, the asparagus and saffron pasta and the crab special pasta, both were dumped on our table with no bedside manner and were incredibly bland. There was no black pepper on the table and we were not offered any, we finally managed to flag down the manager who had helped us earlier and he got some for us. I felt I’d been ripped off by a bland dish with very little crab. No body checked back on us during our meal and once we’d finished our plates were cleared without a word and our check was dumped on our table, making us once again feel rushed out the door and very unwelcome. I’ve really enjoyed my time on the island but this is definitely the low point of my week. I was really excited for the meal and left angry and...
