Iām feeling so conflicted about this review. Weāve visited Phillip Island once a year every year for the 6 years. We found this cafe about 3 years ago and we always would come here for breakfast.
Today we came and it was a beautiful day to sit outside to have our breakfast.
The moment our food was put down, a flock of seagulls swooped in and attacked our Eggs Benedict - stealing the bacon and breaking one of the eggs.
The waitress watched and said do you want to sit inside and we said yes, but she didnāt help us move in.
One of the eggs Benedict was untouched by the bird but the other was broken and it felt a bit unsanitary to eat, but they didnāt offer to fix it. So when we asked to have just the one replaced, we were told āwait a minuteā and we were met with resistance. my sister just stood their holding the plate, feeling a bit dumbfounded by the situation.
We waited for the other serving and we were brought out two. Which was nice. But the waitress condescendingly asked us āIām just wondering why you wouldnāt chase the bird awayā I was in shock to have that kind of response. we explained we would have but as soon as your waitress put it down, it swooped. It was so rude. Putting the blame on us.
Honestly, because the lack of service, the tables outside must sit dirty with plates and the birds have a feast. So perhaps warning customers not to sit outside if having food because of the birds being pests.
The food was very good. Canāt complain, but just the service was so poor.
I would give 3.5...
Read moreOverall I found myself quite annoyed at the lack of service provided for our table. When our table was set, we were given no plates, cutlery, water etc, and had to ask for each in which we received less plates and glasses to the number of people on the table. On top of that I was given a dirty plate which I asked to be replaced to then be given a different plate which was also dirty and greasy and also different to all the serving plates. Asking for the plate to be replaced a second time, the waitress who took the plate placed in on the kitchen service window in which she never came back with a replacement plate. I then had to ask (assuming) the manager for one for which he picked up the same plate from the service window and put it back down on the table and by that point I gave up asking again. I am completely dumbfounded by how poor of service this was and have honestly never dealt with this at any restaurant before. It seemed like they just didn't care (that was the impression I got) mostly from the waiting staff than from the manager. The food for this café was very good and was it's saving grace, however I truly felt that there was a lack of consideration for our table and will not be coming back to this restaurant for this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGood food, good prices, average service. My partner and I both got the big breakfast (mine without eggs and with gluten free toast), which was delicious. A very crispy (almost too oily) hash brown, some well cooked mushrooms and tomatoes, and delicious meats all made for a very filling brekky. Unfortunately, it was barely breakfast, as by the time it reached us it was well into lunch time. I understand that being there at a peak time may have impacted the service times however there should definitely be contingencies in place for this. After ordering, we waited 50 minutes to have our food brought out. I approached a wait staff to ask when it would be coming and they said they'd check, went and checked and didn't provide us with an update. Some of the staff were very nice and welcoming but others simply appeared not to care.
All in all, if you're looking for a nice little cafe with good food and reasonable pricing, go for it. I simply wouldn't recommend it at peak times if this is the...
