I'm a semi regular local here.
This is an OK local bakery. Prices reasonable and quality OK.
Bread, and rolls are fresh daily and are OK value for money.
Sausage rolls and pies OK too.
Coffee is OK.
A few of the sweet treats are nice, like the blueberry cheesecake slice and the custard tarts.
The croissants are good, often fresh, but you need to check as they can be a few days old. They also often do not have any so you can't rely on them if you have friends visiting and want a breakfast treat.
The hamburgers are good, and good value, $10 for a burger and chips which is both good quality and good quantity. One of the better hamburgers in the area, and they do it right with only lettuce, tomato and beetroot (non of the silly sprouts or carrot, etc). A works burger option exists but I've never had it.
But, it is a bit off putting when you see flies inside the display cases. So, just check closely before ordering. Ive always avoided the pre-made wraps, rolls etc. as the flies always seem to be in those display cases. The wraps and rolls often look a few days old too.
Overall this bakery is OK, nothing great, but also not putrid. Middle of the road local bakery.
For some reason, they always seem to be closed on...
Read moreFood poisoning from an awful pie put me in hospital for 4 days. When I approached the staff to alert them, they were incredibly condescending & rude & refused to contact the owner.
The worst customer experience I have ever encountered, and I have worked in customer service roles for 16+ years.
When the owner finally did make contact, he offered no apology until I pointed out the fact that he hadn't. He made excuse after excuse & would not listen to the facts. He was not quite as rude as his staff, but still tried to brush it off like it was nothing.
I am a transplant recipient on immune suppression medication. Not only was I in hospital for 4 days at very high risk to my life, I was practically bed bound for more than 3 weeks following in a very weak and fragile state.
I lost a month of my life because of one bad pie. The attempted resolution was shockingly unprofessional and pathetic. I basically had to wean a very poor apology out of the owner, Simon.
If I could give a zero rating, I would.

I recently had the pleasure of attending Baker and Farmer’s Jazz & Pasta night, and it truly blew me away. It’s not often we get unique events like this in the area, and I’m so grateful that this local spot is giving us such wonderful reasons to go out and enjoy our evenings.
From start to finish, everything was exceptional. We began with their focaccia and warm olives—both beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. For mains, I had the gnocchi with beef ragu, and it was cooked to perfection. Rich, comforting, and full of flavour. I finished with an afogatto, and it was the perfect ending to an incredible meal.
The atmosphere was just as impressive as the food. The addition of candles on the tables gave the space a romantic, elevated feel—such a simple touch, but it really made a difference. The live jazz music was the cherry on top: easy to listen to, relaxing, and wonderfully suited to the evening.
Pottsville is lucky to have a place like Baker and Farmer. A charming mix of bar, restaurant, and patisserie, they’re doing something special here....
