This is a super cool pub, that’s spacious, well lit and airy with good acoustics, clean toilets and easy parking right outside the venue.
The whole place has been tastefully decked out in a modern style, with faux white columns, a carpeted interior, loads of greenery and honey coloured timber panels that all give it a warm, homely and welcoming ambience. You’ll be glad you decided to come here, the moment you walk through the front door. Despite it being a weeknight, there was a decent turnout of patrons. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves, which gave the joint a lively, fun and energetic atmosphere. There are multiple dining and entertainment areas, both inside and outside, but wherever you choose to sit, you will be comfortable. We chose a nice spot inside with upholstered bench type seats on one side, comfy wooden chairs on the other side and a sturdy, wooden table in the middle. The only problem for us was that the music was a tad loud, which did detract from an otherwise relaxed and laid back vibe.
Ordering using the app took a bit of getting used to, but there are plenty of patient staff members to help you out if you get stuck. Once we got the hang of it, the rest was easy. We placed our order for drinks, entrees and main courses and it all came out quickly, but more importantly, in the correct order too, starting with the drinks, then the entrée, then the main courses.
We ordered a tomato caprese for an entrée and for our mains, a chicken schnitzel from the seniors menu, and a Mex salad. Presentation was nice on stylish white or blue crockery and the serving sizes were generous, but something was lacking in these meals. The starter comprised just a few slices of bocconcini cheese, a couple of cherry tomatoes and crackers. It was a rather tasteless and underwhelming dish and a pointer as to what was to follow, with both main meals also lacking in taste. We mentioned this to the friendly maître d’ and she understood what we meant, saying something about the head chef being on leave in Syd. To compensate for the especially poor tomato caprese, she offered us a free drink which we gratefully accepted.
In all, and including a schooner of my fave Byron Bay Lager, we paid a moderate 55 pesos, which is solid value for money, so thanks to the owners of this venue, the Aust Venue Company, for keeping dining affordable, especially for struggling seniors, when everything else is skyrocketing in price as we battle our worst inflation crisis ever.
Despite our disappointment with the food in this instance, the place has enough going for it to suggest that we will return when we’re back in...
Read moreI came to Dunwoodys for my son's birthday dinner and sat at T17&18. I had 7 guests arrive. We ordered entrees that came out perfectly. We waited til close to 7 pm to order mains. The last guests to arrive ordered mains and got them in 20mins.
In three separate transactions, the rest of the table ordered. 40 minutes went by no food. We asked were the food was staff checked. Said I'm sure it's not far away. Then another 20 minutes passed, and we asked again. Told the same thing, and then we displayed our frustration by this. A lady DM then came to our table explaining it's busy that's why our meals aren't out. That's a cop out. Every single other guest in the restaurant got food but us. What the hell is really going on. She continued to apologise. We weren't having it. My kids were hungry, and my son was disappointed it ruined his bday with family. Another 10 minutes, then we got meals, and by then, we all just weren't happy at all. I'm very disappointed. The management asked if we wanted free drinks. I said no, we want vouchers to compensate for the lack of kitchen management that's happened. She gave me $50 to share between three separate guests. What the actual. We all together spent $200. Are you joking. I explained how we all paid, and she didn't really care to accommodate this. Explaining to me how 3 separate people can use voucher still. I paid in cash, too. Thought she didn't take it seriously enough. Even people around us were apologising for getting meals before us that they ordered way after us. Disgusting treatment by far from Dunwoodys this night. I expected more, and the end result is laughable. . . . AFTER SAID REVIEW.. Management contacted me via email and apologised and offered me a voucher for a return visit. But the damage to the night was already done...
Read moreFirst time for us to have dinner at Dunwoody's, we won't be back after our experience. We met up with friends of ours who we hadn't seen for a long time. We sat at a table out on the veranda and we ordered food from the table by scanning the barcode. Our two kids went to play in the playground while we waited for food to arrive. Service for drinks at the bar took a long time each time we went to order a drink, and after 45min of waiting for the food to arrive we looked around at all the tables in the restaurant area and noticed they were all waiting for their meals too! We asked the bartender how long was the wait likely to be, they went to check and didn't bother coming back to us. We went and asked again after 10mins had gone by, and their response was "Oh..we forgot to check!" and no apology for the wait. If they were having staff issues in the kitchen, none of the customers were notified of this. Very poor customer service. The food finally arrived after 1 hour and 20mins, still no apology for the wait. The meals had obviously been sitting on the bench for a while before being served as the food was cold and it basically looked as if they had been chucked onto the plates. The kids were too tired to eat by this point as it had gotten late, so most of our meals were wasted. So disappointing. At the price we paid for food and drinks I would expect much more, but the food was terrible and such poor service. I would definitely...
