I'm abit torn writing this. I went into subway today around lunchtime. It was busy. Line almost out the door and as people left the line more joined so it was consistantly busy. There were only 3 staff working. So I was in line for about 15 minutes. Getting my subs took probably another 5-8 minutes. Now that isn't my issue. The girls were all working as fast as they could and they were doing an amazing job with the quality of subs they were producing. My issue was with the manager/shift supervisor. She was an older woman. Now she seemed super mindful of making sure customers were okay but I didn't like how she treated the 2 girls she was working with. She kept trying to correct and micromanage them as they were serving customers. I've worked in management positions before. Of course - if staff need help and training, give it to them. But please choose an appropriate time. I don't think it's productive to stand by staff and correct them and tell them they've done things wrong while the store is full of customers and the staff are busy. 1 - it takes longer for them to serve us. 2- it needlessly embarrasses them when you are correcting them as they are trying to interact with a customer.
Now for those reading - may I clarify, it was clear these girls weren't 'trainees' who needed constant supervision. Perhaps they were new, but they knew what they were doing and were working fast enough that no customers left the store or were annoyed at the time wait.
But I was super disappointed with management. Rather than focus on serving customers and helping the line move along, she spent far too much time micromanaging the girls. I think it would have been a better experience for customers and staff if she had waited until the customers had left THEN mentioned to her staff the things that needed to be amended in future.
5 stars to those girls working today. It was busy, they did a great job with the subs and they had to work while being...
Read moreSo tonight I went into this subway as I do at least twice a week. Never normally have a problem and wouldn't complain, normally I receive excellent service and sometimes even a few extra pickles. But tonight there was a girl I'd never seen There behind the counter. I ordered the first half of my sub by a staff member I see often and was handed over to this girl who took 10-15 minutes to finish up with the 2 people paying and finishing salads on 3 subs ahead of me, which she had to stop doing for a minute so she could say goodbye to her boyfriend and clearing up his mess. I waited a further few minutes watching her stand at the panini press waiting for it to finish rather then doing anything to clear the traffic in the shop at that time. As a food worker myself I was really frustrated with how it...
Read moreFriendly service, great smiles all around! The higher up manager, or maybe owner, was on the register the other day and he was super friendly too! Even though he was on what seemed like a business phone call, when we were ready to pay, he paused the call and had excellent customer service! You can tell the customers are their first priority.
Oh, and the food? Best subway portions ever. You go here to watch weight, its the most healthy, fast food alternative, you dont want them to slap on huge portions, and if youre paying for it, you dont want a tiny portion either... the perfect medium here!. In and out in 5 minutes with a healthy alternative. Love it...
