Fairbairn Bakery on Clermont — Restaurant in Queensland

The bakery is very good. Although on the main road and it can be a challenge to cross at times, this bakery overall is in a good location. It is close to the railway station, next to the servo and not far from a couple of shopping centres.

Food: if you are looking for something for breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea or something to take home for dinner then this is the place. Your on your way to or from Rockhampton and you need some coffee and a pie or sandwich, maybe that roll or a sweet slice, they have it. Just a loaf of bread or two, no problem. By the way the bread is nice and fresh.

Price: most things are pretty well priced and not over the top for today's prices. My last pie was $6.50 and that was a bit fancier pie. The coffees and sandwiches are good as well.

Location: It's a great location on your way to and from Rockhampton because you don't have to go off the main road. Need fuel, that’s next door so get your fuel and stop at the bakery for a pie or fresh coffee.

Parking: Emerald has a lot of parking in the middle of the streets and the main street is no exception. From what I remember there is truck parking over the other side and a small park with seating.

Service: Staff are quick and polite. When they are busy you might have to wait a little bit for your coffee to be made but it's worth it.

Seating: As I said, there is seating over the road but there is also a little bit at and outside of the bakery.

Again I have been given a cake/tart that is older/not as good/different to what is displayed in the cabinet and I've nelly had a gut full (pardon the pun). If it happens again I'm just not going to go back there and I'm not going to recommend the place. Please don't display nice cakes/tarts and then give the customer an older version of what's displayed! Give them your fresh stuff every single time otherwise the fresh stuff is going to get old and you're going to be giving old stuff to the next customer! The interior is fitted out nicely and looks good. The range of products was ok. I had a pastie and apple turnover. The pastie tasted OK but the filing seemed to be a mixture of sausage roll filling with a couple of bits of potato in there to give it that vegetable look. In my experience so far in Queensland, I have not encountered one correctly made pastie. They just don't seem to get the concept of what a pastie is.
