Nanking Woodlands Restaurant — Restaurant in Queensland

Let me start by saying I am a retired trade certified chef with an extensive background in the industry and I am not one to complain unless it's honestly warranted. I spent $68 this evening at Nanking Chinese Takeaway and here is my review.

Mini spring rolls: standard packet spring rolls. Nothing out of the ordinary. No dipping sauce supplied.

Special fried rice: steamed rice tossed with some diced veg, peas, onion, etc. By no means was it fried or even flavoured for that matter. Very bland.

Salt and pepper calamari: battered squid strips that were chewy. Since when is salt and pepper squid heavily battered. By far the worst I've ever eaten. I was so disappointed.

Honey king prawns: the prawns seemed fresh. The meat was firm to the bite. The batter was extreme and disgustingly soggy. I couldn't eat any more after trying one. The flavour was lacking. Unfortunately this dish was also the worst of its kind that I've ever eaten.

Sweet and sour pork: nicely done pork pieces in a light to medium batter served in a box with a tub of extremely boring sweet and sour sauce that I assume is from a bulk bottle. No onion or pineapple to be seen. Very boring and bland.

Beef and black bean: this was a dish I could eat. It was well made with honest quantities of both veg and tender, thin beef slices in a tasty sauce.

Overall, my experience here was negative for the most part. I've spent less and got vastly better quality food at other establishments in my time. The money is not a problem to me, but if you are going to charge good money, learn how to cook decent food. Perhaps the owner/s could consider either changing cooks/chefs or train the one/s they have to create food that is worthy of...

Food was terrible! DISGUSTING. Price difference between webpage and counter. Ordered Combo Chow Mein. Givin wrong order had to return to shop again for right order. Returned home to find half a container of soft noodle and something that resembled the first dish (Beef and black bean I think) water down and only half as much placed on top of the noodles Rang shop to complain about dish and the soft noodle, only to be told that they do soft noodles in there chow mein not hard, but offered a free pack of hard noodles next time as compansation for the stuff up.🤔 I have always received hard noodles when ordering chow mein from other shops. I have eaten a lot of Chinnese food over the years but this shop, Nanking at Woodlands Deeragun 4818 would have to be the worst food, dirty looking and customer service I have ever come across.

The food is ok. The service is ok, if, you like being lied to. When you ask how long it will be, they will tell you anything from 10 to 25 minutes. 50 minutes later and still waiting. Here's the story. I saw a bag of food on the counter sitting there for 20 minutes. Finally, they called out my name. I said that It had been sitting there for 20 minutes, and did they think about calling peoples names? The old Asian woman said, "I did." They dont care once they get you money in the till they can care less. Another guy had been waiting longer than I was. The service and care in this place is non existent.
