Normally get my sourdough at Warrina LOVE IT. Dropped into here on Tuesday to try it out it out. Got a couple of Sourdough loaves sliced. Got home to enjoy as usual and it was white bread. NOT SOURDOUGH. Not sure why maybe confused delivery. They looked the part on the outside. But def plain white bread. At the same time I got probs $50 worth of deli items and meat to enjoy with the bread. Also while waiting at the meat counter two staff just looked at me from a short distance. I indicated that I wanted service but there was this long pause Just staring at each other. Weird. To the point where I moved to the bell actually saying ‘do I need to ring this bell.’ Paused. No service. Rang the bell. The butcher from where he was standing says ‘you want something?’ Yeah. Chicken. Got a piece. Now.... I’ll pay more for good produce but at the same time I expect a higher service level. I was the only one at the counter. Anyway just letting you know. Didn’t see any other port to make these comments. One...
Read moreWas a little confused after reading some reviews of what is on offer at this establishment.
It appears that Otto’s Kitchen is the main player here. Inner courtyard with Tables display the Otto’s menu where you can order at the counter. Alternatively you can go deeper inside and there is fresh produce, a delicatessen with an impressive array of cheese, cold meats. Display cases showcasing impressive looking cakes and pastries.
On the other side of the seating area is a florist/gift shop and a few little shops down the end.
We chose a table in the central area, ordered at the main counter and were given a buzzer. Service was prompt.
The brisket cheesesteak came with a small side serving of chips.
The flat roll was delightfully fluffy. The brisket was melt in the mouth and went very well with the jalapenos. Overall, tasty however quite greasy.
The chips were terrible. They were old, cold and hard.
Would I return? Yes, the meals coming out looked good and we would try something else...
Read moreThe visuals and atmosphere of Otto’s Precinct are beautiful, however I unfortunately couldn’t say the same about the pastries.
The precinct is made up of a collection of shops, cafes, markets, and restaurants and has an alive and bustling feeling. Everywhere you look there are people enjoying their day. There are plenty of options to choose from and we will be back to try something else.
However, unfortunately the pastries we bought from Otto’s did not match our expectations. They looked delicious but I found the almond croissant to be a bit unbalanced. The frangipane (inside) was overpowering and the pastry tasted flat rather than light. It wasn’t bad by any means, just average. The mixed berry danish was better, the custard balanced the pastry nicely.
Overall I would recommend looking towards the deli and grocery section of Otto’s, and visiting a specialty bakery if you are craving the...
