Our experience at this restaurant was nothing short of appalling due to the disgraceful behavior of one particular waiter. From the moment we arrived, the tall, short haired French speaking waiter made repeated and inappropriate attempts to flirt with my girlfriend, creating an environment that was not only uncomfortable but downright revolting. What was meant to be a relaxing evening for my family turned into an ordeal due to his incessant and unwelcome advances. It is beyond unacceptable to have a staff member who persistently makes a guest feel uneasy. Hospitality should be about professionalism, respect, and creating a welcoming atmosphere—not about indulging in inappropriate behavior that borders on harassment. This individual’s conduct was entirely out of line and speaks to a serious lack of oversight in staff training and management. It’s a shame because the person who handled our bill was courteous, and the pizza itself was quite good. However, no quality of food can make up for an experience tainted by such a repugnant display of unprofessionalism. We will never return to this establishment, as it is inconceivable that someone with such obvious behavioral issues is allowed to interact with the public. Management should seriously reconsider who they employ if they care at all about maintaining a respectable dining environment.
Dear Piccolo Cucina Team, I am utterly disappointed not just by the terrible experience I had at your restaurant, but by the fact that you attempted to silence my honest review. Reporting my feedback instead of addressing your shortcomings is nothing short of pathetic. I have lived and worked in Cairns for years, and I will not be intimidated into silence. I stand by every word of my review, and I will continue to share my experience with anyone who asks for my opinion. If your priority is hiding the truth rather than improving your service, then you deserve every bit of criticism that comes your way. Your attempt to suppress honest feedback speaks volumes about your business. Rest assured, I will make sure people know exactly what to expect from your establishment. Shame on...
Read moreOur dinner at Piccolo Cucina was flawless from start to finish. I arrived early and was warmly welcomed to sit before dinner service officially began — such thoughtful hospitality. While I waited for my guest, I started with a Limoncello Margarita, which was absolutely delicious and set the tone for the night. The lovely wait staff were so warm and funny, always checking in to make sure I was comfortable and answering my various questions about the beverage and dinner menus with passion and detail.
Once my guest arrived, the personal service continued to impress. Every recommendation — from wine to dessert — was spot-on. We were given a tasting of both a citrus Italian Pinot Grigio (so light and airy!) and a rich interesting Soave (the apple lingered on the palate and we couldn’t go passed this one to pair with our entree Schiacciata.
For mains, we had the Orecchiette con Strisce di Filetto and the Scaloppine di Vitello. These aren’t dishes I’d usually pick, but I’m so glad I trusted the recommendation — they were full of flavour, beautifully executed, and the perfect balance between fine dining and comfort. I can see why Piccolo’s is known for their pasta! Of course, the meat was so tender and balanced by the vegetable sides and gentle lemon parsley sauce and carrot puree.
To finish, we shared the mango pannacotta and lemon cheesecake — both light, refreshing, and the perfect end to the meal.
Every element — the cocktails, wine, food, dessert, and above all, the service — was exceptional. Highly recommend Piccolo Cucina for anyone wanting a refined and memorable dining experience. We’ll...
Read moreYou love food and your ready to have an explosion of traditional cuisine.
Piccolo Cucina is officially in my top 3 Italian restaurants in Australia. Their combination of homemade and traditional creations is nothing short of perfection in a plate. As some of you know I’ve traveled to Italy, and I’ve definitely shared, experienced and dined on their authentic dishes. Well without a doubt this restaurant takes me straight back there, all I can say is “È stato perfetto cibo”.
Beptiste our waiter was attentive, very personable in his approach to the service, there was no rushing, everything was perfectly timed.
Now to the best part the food, this review would end up so long if I tried to write out just how much flavour and pure goodness it was but here we go. (Scroll to the bottom for menu pictures)
To start: Schiacciata : house made flatbread with garlic, salt and rosemary. JUST GET IT!! Polpette : Nonna’s meatballs with perception and Napoli sauce. My partner said it was the best he had EVER eaten. Arancino: IF YOU DO NOT GET THIS YOUR MISSING OUT, the rice, the crispy outside, the cheese, sauce, rocket, it’s heaven on earth.
Mains: Orecchiette con Strisce di Filetto : basically the best eye fillet, handmade pasta you will ever eat with chilli, cherry tomatoes done with some oil. Amatriciana : a rich tomato base pasta, again handmade with some mini bacon pieces. Rustica : We had this on gluten free and it was SERIOUSLY SENSATIONAL.
I wish I could have fit in desert but my stomach was full, I would urge you to try because without a doubt, I’m sure they are...
