When visiting Tannum. we always have a meal at the fish and chip shop, the restaurant next door to it and the surf club and then repeat. Must have been a bad night on Saturday 2 August. Usually we get our largish order in a paper bag. Had to ask for one this time. I got home 3 minutes later and everything (3 types of fish and chips) was cold and the fish was like leather. You could bounce the grilled fish off the floor. And the crumbing of the crumbed fish was something to behold. Just under 5mm thick. It was like opening a book cover on those old thick library books. Photos attached. I usually just vote with my feet and do not go back but this was the most terrible fish and chips in many many years and had to post. I think someone took their eye off the ball and perhaps all our meals were left sitting going cold somewhere for the 15 or 20 minutes while I was waiting seated near the front counter. But then again the crumbing was always going to be disastrous. Voting with my feet this time and will not be back. Too much money to lose in one hit.

Quite a disappointment for a first time visit. Two pieces of fish: sweet lip and another kind. The crumb was overwhelming and way overdone. Dark brown and hard to cut. Peeled most off. No local fishes but said to be fresh. Hmmm... Chips were yellow but hot. The sea scallop for $4 was a waste of money. The scallop was about 2 CM and the batter made it about 6 cm. Do folks around here like that much crumb? Not us but we are visitors and maybe got the tourist menu meaning we got the stuff the locals would not touch. It does happen. We were told later to go to the other local place for a better experience.

Fantastic little fish and chip shop in Tannum Beach. One of the best fish and chips I’ve had. We had fish and chip pack for one $11- chose crumbed cod (can have flake or cod crumbed or battered at this price ). Size of fillet was huge. Also had the seafood basket $18- which included fillet of cod, crumbed oyster, scallop, prawn, calamari all cooked perfectly plus chips were fresh and great quantity. Really good value . You can phone in your order in. A park is just across the road where you can sit and eat and enjoy the view over the water.

On Monday 17 Aug.my wife and I went for fish and chips the shop attendant was very bright and bubbly after we ordered I asked her the price of the oysters as there was no price in the cabinet she said $24 a dozen.I said I would get some later. Next day we went to the shop and a different attendant was there a woman in her mid to late 30s she too was very bright and bubbly, my wife asked for a dozen oysters she got a small plastic bag and put 6 oysters In it and asked if we wanted any thing else, my wife said "I asked for a dozen oysters I want 6 more thanks " and put them in another plastic bag, my wife asked for 1/2Kg. Of prawns she got the prawns and weighed them on a pair of scales which was not visible to us and did not say what weight they were. She wrapped the order and my wife went to pay I was not paying attention to the price, we walked out of the shop and I asked her how much and she said $64-50.I said that's not right,! I went back to the shop and said to her "What price are your oysters ? She replied "$25 for 6!" I went back to the caravan park and got a glass of wine and went to enjoy our prawns and oysters the prawns were OK but not fresh but frozen, my wife ate the first oyster and said "these are stale and soft, if I eat another one I will never eat another oyster in my life!" I ate 4 of them and the rest went...

I see this place has a lot of glowing reviews but unfortunately I can't agree. Perhaps being early on new years eve was the contributing factor here, hung over and not ready to cook? I couldn't tell. I could very well tell that the steak on my burger was one that should have been cooked some time in the year just passed, it had existed beyond its use by time and was inedible. My partners battered fish had gone out in sympathy with my thin slice of beef. This fish being poorly battered and subsequently dried and jerky like from the deep fryer. The taste was not the greatest and I know that each fish is different, but I believe that better preparation could have saved our nemo. The chips were ok but most of them were tossed in the bin with the rest because we were so...
