Yatai Sushi — Restaurant in Queensland

A compact sushi-train restaurant that offers takeaway. On a Tuesday night in August it had a steady stream of customers who kept the kitchen busy. Music was a tad loud, but not ear splitting as some restaurants seem fond of.

We opted for takeaway, selecting a Bento Box and some extras. We were handed a paper bag packed to the rim with tasty treats. On unpacking the bag we discovered the flat-pack de-construction version of our meal. One ingredient per container gave us the unique opportunity to share our meal whilst snacking from another container.

Came here years ago and it was really nice but 2 years on and same issue as before. No service. The poor girl waiting tables and running cashier on a busy night on her own. Took her 10min to get to the table she had put us at to clean it because people kept getting up needing to pay and people coming in for takeaway so she’d take their very long order before coming over. Then when we wanted to order off the menu no one (out of the 3 that were just standing there) acknowledged us or the people next to us. So my partner had to stand in line for 5min to wait to speak to the waitress/cashier to order 🫠 RIP patience. Honestly - not worth it....

Was not impressed. Went there a few week prior an ended up spending my night in the toilet. Stupidly I returned for a snack with my mate and the staff were extremely rude an made us feel extremely uncomfortable. We weren't overly dressed just causal baggy T shirt and shorts an as we were preparing to pay an leave one of the staff members blocked the doorway as if she thought we weren't going to pay. Then sent another staff member to check under the seats an look around for any other sushi plates she must have thought we tried to sneak.. Was very afended and will not return as a result of this...
