A wonderful stay as a family of 8. We came to Airlie beach to celebrate our dads 60th birthday, in total we have 5 rooms including 7 adults and a six year old! Our rooms faced towards the bay /car park which I think was better because wasn’t too noisy, I think the ones facing towards the pool are less private/noisy! I read quiet a few complaints about small rooms/showers but I found our room quiet spacious and the shower also large and modern enough! The beds were comfy and air con great! Our only concerns/complaints regarding the rooms are, 1. the light from the tv is very bright in the dark room when it’s turned off so if your sensitive to that you may want to cover it or wear sleeping mask, 2. The shower only had one screen so therefor did make the whole bathroom floor wet after a shower and 3. The handle to get into my room was a little broken but I found a trick way to get it to open but they did offer to change my room but I said not to worry we Wanted to keep all our rooms next to each other!
The resorts itself is lovely and very tropical relaxed feel, found all staff to be friendly and helpful! We enjoyed lots of time by the beautiful pools and the large hot tub! The daily happy hour is was great and the cocktails delicious! We had buffet breakfast each day and thought it to be pretty good value for money $25 pp is good considering would pay around same price for breakfast in town! The buffet variety wasn’t huge but had something for everyone and we all enjoyed it!
The dinner menu was a little on the expensive side but the pizzas were very yummy and rest of our meals were great! When looking for somewhere to stay in Airlie beach resort options were limited so we were all happy with our stay here and enjoyed the conscience of having a restaurant/bar on site!
Location, the resort is located about a 5-10 minute taxi ride into town average $15 in a maxi taxi each way! At front reception they have a button you can press to order a taxi and each time we didn’t have to wait any longer than 10 minutes! In town we did have to track down a taxi to get back which was a little difficult we found calling 13cabs not helpful as usually never got an answer! In town definitely recommend checking out the lagoon pool especially if have kids! We also enjoyed eating at hogs breath and the tree house cafe right by the lagoon! Back to the resort, the Whitsundays shopping centre was only about a 5 minute walk from the resort which has a everything you need for supplies, coles, chemist bottle store etc! We also grabbed some Chinese food from the restaurant near by one night which was delicious! One morning we went for a walk across the road and followed the track to the left of the resort and found a great playground so that’s also something to do :)
We also booked a white haven tour through the reception which the staff was super helpful and easy with that!
Overall we found the resort great value for money and a relaxing...
Read moreMy husband, myself and our toddler son stayed at Mantra Club Croc for 3 nights over the weekend. I’ll firstly start off with our highlights of our trip, as we genuinely loved our experience here. Jude from the restaurant was an absolute gem, she shines so bright everyday, and welcomed us with open arms and attended to all the guests needs. She is a powerhouse at hospitality, given that my husband and I come from hospitality, it is something we highly value. We would stay again purely for the breakfast experience. There was a young man that was working with her in the mornings, I’m not sure of his name, but he seemed very bubbly and happy to be there. The pool & spa bath were so much fun for us, extremely child friendly, our son had the best time ever, days 1&2 were nice and sunny so we enjoyed the big pool, however day 3 was raining & quite cold, but couldn’t keep a 2 year old in the room long enough so we sat in the spa for a bit, it was so enjoyable in the rain still. 10/10 for the pool area. All cleaning staff were friendly and gave our son high fives every time they saw him, small things like that make our experience just that little extra special. We enjoyed the grassy area on level 1 where our room was, it was a nice space to play and let our son adventure around, all in all the whole place felt very safe. Sorry but there are some negatives, nothing that was a make or break for us, but it was something we thought about. The gentleman on dinner service in the restaurant was quite rude, we didn’t take too nicely to his mannerisms. He seemed to have changed his attitude a bit by our last day, but regardless, first impressions of him were not nice. He made us feel like we weren’t welcome for dinner and we just wanted to get out and back to our room to be frank. We spent our whole dinner talking about how rude he was to us, rather than having a fun conversation as a family while on holiday. It didn’t spoil the taste and quality of our food though, compliments to the chef. The rooms were enough, however I would suggest microwaves as we needed to heat our toddlers bottles for bedtime and needed to leave his bottle of milk inside the kettle full of hot water to heat it up. We couldn’t really get up and go to the reception or restaurant to ask as sometimes he wakes in the middle of the night and no way am I venturing out in PJ’s. I would also suggest maybe a sharp knife or some additional utensils for the rooms. We brought some snacks for our son with us and so many times we couldn’t cut things up or feed him with a fork in the room. I used a teaspoon to cute an avocado to make him some avo and crackers to snack on. Nothing wrong with the location other than crossing the main road by foot was an absolute nightmare with a pram. That’s all. All in all, we had a splendid time and we would definitely recommend staying here if you have a family. We really enjoyed...
Read moreThe Mantra is located just prior to the township of Airlie Beach, meaning you avoid all the bustle that goes with a tourist town. The main entrance(s) are a little confusing from the road, but there is plenty of parking availble.
First impression. When I opened the door, the fan was on, as was the aircon. Having travered the entire 3rd foor in muggy heat, this was a very welcome greeting.
The rooms are done in a light beige and dark brown style, along with faux brass fittings that gives a distinct French Colonial feel to the room. The colour choice is also smart, insomuch a lot of places will have stark white, which on a full sun day, can be too much bright for the eyeball. The muted decor is sun friendly.
The style is further compliemented by floor length linen curtains with muslin style privacy curtains. Both will extend over the doorway, allowing for both a natural airflow with the door open, and offers superior privacy from passing guests. Often in m/hotels, there is a gap and with the mirror on the wall, any passer bys can inadvertently see you reading Harry Potter in bed, even though the curtains are pulled. Not so here.
Cellphone coverage (Telstra) was adequate, and did not drop out during my stay.
For those wanting to be entertained by in room entertainment, the TV is an Android based smart TV, which is locked down. This is unfortunate, as it means any late night watchers are not able to pair their bluetooth headsets to the device, meaning you have to either have it at low volume or resort to your own devices. Adding to that, is the fact the TV is flush mounted, so access to the HDMI ports at the back is not an option, short of dismounting the TV, so Firestick owners will have to find another option. In the end, this is what I chose, watching Youtube on my phone with my earbuds in.
One note on the fan, the one in my room was afflicted with a loud tick due to it being unbalanced (physically, not mentally). Out of morbid curiousity, I turned the fan right up to maximum, to see if it would unseat, decapitating me in the process. Despite furiously whirring with murderous intent, it did not break free from it's seating, leaving me the disappointed victor.
The facilities have a pool, small gym and restaurant. Did not get the opportunity to try the dinner menu, but later in the evening, we enjoyed snack food by the pool, which was delicious - the food, not the pool.
Murder fan notwithstanding, the room was very comfortable, though I did note there were no biscuits in the tea making area. Given the humidity of the area, this may be a good thing, as no one wants to be eating the soggy biscuit.
Overall, my colleagues and I enjoyed our stay at the Mantra, and it is certainly on my revisit list. The fan and I...
