Stayed for 5 nights at the beginning of June in a 2 bedroom cabin. The cabin cost us approx. $35 a night each with 3 people staying in the cabin. Very highly recommended, will definitely return in the future. We were able to lock the cabin and each of the bedrooms doors had locks.
Extremely tidy, the bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom were all spotless. The linen was all fresh, and underneath the beds was extremely tidy with no dirt or dust. The queen bed that I slept on was VERY comfortable and the blankets were warm and clean. I saw that they used a laundry company which explains why everything was exceptionally clean.
All plates and cutlery in the kitchen were clean and some cleaning cloths and detergents were provided. They provided enough tea, coffee, sugar and milk to make a couple of drinks. Shampoo, conditioner and soap was also provided in dispensers in the shower. They provided bath and beach towels for guests to use during their stay.
Owners were lovely and very friendly and informative. The owner saw us wheeling our luggage down the road to reception and ran over to us to take us to our cabin as it was at the start of the road into the village.
Both bedrooms in my cabin had free air-conditioning which were a bit older but worked very well. I've seen others complain in reviews that the air-conditioning costs money to use but they were free with the key on our bedroom door locks. They had a shared laundry on site, I didn't use it during my stay but the owner did say it takes $4 (I think) to do the laundry with use of the dryer so that's a very reasonable price.
WHAT'S NEARBY There is a bus stop right outside and there is a fantastic and cheap Chinese restaurant next door, as well as coffee and food vans parked over the road in the morning. There is also a church right next door which has some evening gatherings but they were all pretty quiet and ended at a reasonable time. Note: My fvourite restaurant we visited nearby was called Dickies Dogs in Airlie Central
TRANSPORT All of the tour and travel activities that we booked (crocodile safari, reef diving and flight over the reef) offered pick up and drop off at the bus stop right outside of the village. The regular buses run roughly every half hour, they only accept cash and it cost $3.70 to get to airlie central stop, and you can return home for free with the ticket...

As we arrived to the Bush Village Cabins we were greeted by Damian, who can only be described as ‘the host with the most.’ After our eight hour drive, it was refreshing to meet a true gentleman who had the time to welcome my friend and I and our two children. Damian had the patience of a saint as he kindly took the time to answer our million questions. He also, to our delight, had a fridge stocked with drinks and sold us Canadian Club to help us celebrate and honour Canada Day.
The cabins were of rustic character: they were very cute and clean. They had fans and air conditioning which made our stay most comfortable. The beds were comfy and the bedrooms were of a good size too.
In the evenings, there were unique lights that lined the road creating a night-time paradise.
What we thoroughly enjoyed was the three kilometre walk into town which stretched along on the scenic timber boardwalk and majestic waterways. It was spectacular as it included breathtaking sights of the endless magical marinas and alfresco cafes, restaurants and shops. All of this would have been missed had we stayed right in the town of Airlie.
We would absolutely recommend the Bush Village Cabins for a lovely, relaxing,...
Read moreWe stayed there just before Easter 2023. Honestly, it was such a great find. Damien and his team run a tight ship here. Our cabin (a family cabin with two large bedrooms - one with twin singles, and one with a double and single) was spotlessly clean, well equipped, and had very effective fans and air con. The Wi-Fi was great (we have pre-teens - so this is important), and the little swimming pool (again, clean and tidy) and reception shop (selling drinks) were a welcome bonus. Damien met us off the bus on our arrival in a rainstorm, with a welcoming smile and two large umbrellas. Anything we asked for, they made sure we had - and gave great advice on getting around (and what transit bus to get). They even posted back to us a much loved teddy bear that got left behind! There are plenty of shops (Cole’s supermarket is less than ten minutes walk), and a bus into Arlie leaves from right across the road. You can easily walk into town along the boardwalk - it’s about a mile (so take water if it’s hot!). We honestly couldn’t fault it. Don’t miss the flocks of cockatoos that seem to roost in the frangipani tree just in...
