Took my kids for a spontaneous, celebratory lunch. We decided to give Eight on the beach a go instead of their busy neighbours, steel tree. Worst mistake, I really regret this decision! To start with the water glasses were dirty. Next, the entrees we ordered was prawns with mango salsa. There was no mango in the salsa, it was just diced tomato and red onion in a little mango juice, disappointing. Next the mains come out, my son’s spoon had dried food on it, when I asked for a clean one I got attitude from the waitress, from then on she was so rude! The carbonara was ok, can't complain, my salad was ok too, but my daughter's spaghetti meatballs were clearly from the frozen section from the spud shed and jar sauce from woollies, my 12yo daughter actually said "mum, your spaghetti meatballs are better than that". I then asked for a takeaway container for leftovers and she graciously found me one from out the back but I could tell she didn't want to, I heard her discussing it with another waitress who was on her break. When she brought it over, I thanked her graciously but she did not even acknowledge me, just walked off with attitude. I won't be back and I will be telling everyone I know to avoid the place. Now I know why they were dead quite on a beautiful summer's day on the foreshore. I thought we were lucky, boy...
Read moreToday I took my mother in-law and my son to this restaurant. The service was amazing and our meals came to the table quickly. My meal was the surf up. The salmon was cooked to perfection. The additional prawns were in a garlic white source thinking they would be fried with garlic. My mum dish was lamb shank. Tender it fell off the bone, but zero flavour zero.. what a disappointment. My son had the chilli mussels. Well done. Then we ordered desserts. My lemon mirang was old, the outside crust was old. My mother’s passion fruit was hard as a rock and old. She is a baker. My son’s chocolate mousse was good. It’s important to get feed back. Then I had to clear our dishes off the table. Not the waitress fault. Hire more people. It’s high lunch and you got two waitresses and manageress trying to service a full house. I saw people coming to look for cold water out of the fridges. Since when do patrons clean tables and look for water? No toothpicks which is a basic on the table item. The value versus our experience.. for $135 does not cut it. I am new in the area and looking for a great restaurant to visit on weekends on the beach front. Your name has been erased...
Read moreVery long wait for food, ordered the California hot cakes which the menu specifies comes with hot cakes, maple syrup, bacon and banana for $17. When my meal came out the waitress said I had ordered the pancake special which is $15 and comes with pancakes, maple syrup, bacon and ice cream according to the menu I advised the waitress that I hadn’t ordered the special and had ordered the California hot cakes she went away and come back and advised they were the same thing, I advised her that the menu states differently and she just said this is what your ordered and she would go get a extra side of banana if that’s what I wanted as I didn’t want to be charged extra for something I had already ordered I said no. Wouldn’t eat there again, while waiting overheard the duty manager telling other customers 2 tables away that the “blended avocado” described on the menu is just plain avocado slices because another customer had made a complaint so they had to change it. Terrible customer service from her but the waitress was lovely.
EDIT: the person I was with had ordered the pancake special and recieved the same thing I...
