We had the pleasure of being a guest that The Knock restaurant this weekend. After a spur of the moment decision not to cook we ventured out without a reservation. We were seated at a beach view table on a stunning still night watching the twinkling lights over the surf while the heaters were keeping us toasty warm. We started with drinks, I had a signature cocktail, Knocktini. While my wife had a beer. Both were exceptional!! The cocktail was delicious and creamy while the beer was fruity and light without an overwhelming taste of hops. Followed then were our our mains, me, the cabonara with chicken and my wife had her favourite pub meal of chicken parmigiana. Now I must admit I'd been on a carb free diet for 5 days but that first forkful of pasta was nothing short of heaven on a plate! I devoured as much as I could, enjoying every single bite just as much as the first! I can't speak on my wifes parmigiana however her chips were so crispy (I may have stolen a few) they were fluffy inside with a wonderful crunch and beautifully seasoned, oh and i do remember not seeing alot on her plate when she was done. We then ordered the home made Lemonchello Tiramisu to share for desert. Traditional Tiramisu is one of my all time favourite desserts however I was over the moon with this change in recipie. It was light, creamy and oh so citrusy with a beautiful mouth feel. An absolute delight. Last but certainly not least I must speak of the service. From the moment we stepped in the doors we were welcomed by attentive, friendly and helpful staff. There was not one member of staff we encountered who did not go out of their way to make us feel welcome. Our drinks were served promptly and our mains steaming hot. Nothing was too much trouble and they were all only too happy to help. This widespread display of job satisfaction (in my opinion) can only be obtained when you have wonderful, supportive and fair management who truly takes care of their staff as they must make The Knock a pleasant workplace for this to refect in their staff. So all in all I say make The Knock one of your regular go to restaurants you wont regret a thing! Thank you all so very much for making our dining experience one to remember. We will be back! 27/9/24 A massive thank you...
Read moreWhat can I say to make this review 5 stars.Nothing. 25th August lunch booked for 1pm 4 Ladies. Place was packed our table was 1 chair distance from the next table drink order taken straight away. Meal order taken pretty quick. Meal arrives 40 minutes later. The room is buzzing the sound of a bee mass no one can talk over the noise. My order was fish and chips this came out after my other friends were halfway finished. I noted that the fish batter was very dark brown but went okay so cut into the batter moved it of the fish and took a taste it was like rubber.i got my sister to taste and she said it was over cooked. I managed to get the attention of the lady owner who was under pressure with a lot of the staff not knowing what to do. I explained about the fish and said I could not eat it.Well it was like an explosion she went into a furious rant saying it was White Snapper and that they had sold many and no one else complained. I politely asked could she please lower her voice as everyone was staring at us. She bent down on the table and whispered is that quiet enough for you. I was appalled at this behaviour I explained that I would not have a replacement as my friends had almost finished and I did not want to wait another 40 mins.she immediately said I will get you something else which I ended up with the order in a few minute's. My sister ordered us both a coffee while the others had a drink, sisters came in a mug when asked for a cup and mine came in a takeaway container, which was sent back for a cup also turned into a mug. On paying the Bill the owner told me the price and I said you missed the coffee.she said It's free. Regardless saying Sorry giving a free coffee is not enough for me to give this place another penny of my hard earned cash. Noted no dress code as 2 random girls sat down one almost nude with string thong bikini Covered in a see through top. Not what most people in a restaurant would expect to see in a...

Arriving at The Knock felt promising – a prime foreshore location, a lively atmosphere, and the hope of a solid lunch. What we got was more of a tragicomedy, where the only thing served on time was the rising tide of our disappointment.
We started with drinks – or should I say tried to start with drinks. Ordering the same pint should, in theory, reduce the risk of mix-ups. Apparently not here! One of us got the correct beer, while the other was presented with a brew from the mystery tap. Points for enthusiasm, I suppose, as staff noticed the mistake and tried to fix it. But 30 minutes later, the only thing flowing freely was our patience.
Once both beers finally arrived, we moved on to food. I began with the salt and pepper squid, which, ironically, had all the warmth of a cold shoulder. As for presentation? Imagine a deep fryer was given creative freedom and said, “What if I just leaked despair?” The plate glistened with enough oil to lubricate a truck engine.
Things didn’t improve with the mains. Plates were unceremoniously plonked down before the sad squid graveyard was cleared, setting a tone of chaos dining. My crispy pork belly? More like soggy pork belly, with a texture that brought back childhood memories of opening tins of cat food for my pets. The flavors were similarly uninspired – at least the cat always looked happy.
To sum up, The Knock is an apt name – you might leave feeling knocked out by the delays, the grease, and the creative liberties taken with the term “crispy.” Here’s hoping they can tighten their service and refine their kitchen techniques, because the location deserves better than this comedy of culinary errors.
1.5/5 stars. Come for the view, stay for the...
