Shoalhaven Heads Bowling and Recreation Club — Restaurant in Shoalhaven Heads

We have had a fair few good times up here, bowls, gigs, sunday arvo drinks, etc. The club itself is fine. But the bistro is really bringing this place down. We come up most Thursdays for the raffle and dinner. The food is often very hit and miss. Our table has ordered one of the same dishes the past 3 weeks in a row and it was completely different each time, with this week being the worst yet. Inconsitency was a big problem during their peak season, but the place was also packed out and chaotic, so it is kind of expected for a subpar bistro. But the place was quiet and empty tonight and they still completely missed the mark. Wedges soggy and bland. The crumbed lamb cutlets where tough and tasteless (we have had this dish a fair bit over past few months and you always get something different. From the size of the portion, to being overcooked, etc). What really pushed me to write this review today was the gravy. It tasted like water. I added 3 satches of salt to it and it still sucked. I have worked in my fair shair of Bistros, many use them big tubs of powdered gravy. It tastes good. So it blows my mind that they could actually mess that up. This review is just for Taja Brasserie. We visited the club on Monday night the 2nd of January 2023 at around 7:40pm. As soon as we arrived we lined up to order from the Brasserie as there were a few people there. All the staff working on the front counter were Quite young, but friendly. The manager named Locke ( I may have the spelling wrong) was in the kitchen. I asked where our food was around the hour mark as we were hungry, it was getting late, and we have 2 little boys under four that were exhausted and needed to go to bed. Our meals were ready at around 9:15pm - 9:20ish. When I arrived at the counter there were lots of other customers complaining, some had already left, and the young staff at the counter were copping all the abuse as the manager was hiding out the back. When I asked who the manager was, he pointed to one of his staff and said " he is the manager" So he quite happy to let his young under 18 staff handle his complaints for him which was not right at all. I was at the Pist Idiots gig last night, and as a long time heavy music fan and frequent gig-goer I have to say that I was appalled by the security last night.

Clearly throughout the show there was one person in particular causing a lot of trouble amongst the crowd and being an absolute nuisance. The lead singer was even trying to get the attention of security to have this person evicted, but they were nowhere to be found. I had to go and grab them from the door where they were twiddling their thumbs and then convince them that something was wrong in there. It was absolutely ridiculous and the club are seriously lucky that a massive fight didn't break out, and that was only due to a few good punters pulling this guy out of the crowd.

I've been to many many many gigs in my lifetime and have never seen such poor security. Ever.

Other than that, the bar staff were really lovely and great. The band was fantastic and I really enjoyed the venue after this person was ejected. As did...
