RUDE, RUDE, RUDE !The guy that runs this place is rude, unapologetically apathetic & definitely doesn’t count on any repeat business. My sister prebooked a table the week before our visit to the cafe.We arrived on Kangaroo Island by cruise ship & as I have a physical disability she booked ahead to make our day relaxing & easy..When we arrived at the cafe, the were extremely busy, that’s great, happy for them & more than happy to wait & be seen when it was our turn. When it came to our turn my sister told the man at the counter we had a booking, he looked around & said can’t you see how busy we are , we don’t do bookings, especially on days that cruise ships arrive so I highly doubt you even had a booking, so he practically called us liars. He’s like “look around & if you find a table then come back & order” & then turned away to service the people behind us as he decided the conversation with us was over..Totally rude, dismissive & careless.!Obviously he doesn’t count on repeat business as he couldn’t give a rats bum if we were there or not! If he was polite or helpful or accommodating at all we would have felt very differently about our interaction. And we were not alone a lady with her husband in a wheelchair also was treated very rudely & a few other patrons were also astonished by the lack of service & general care factor of the male owner! And a special shout out to the young lady with the blonde dreadlocks too, who I asked a question, didn’t even acknowledged me & then continued to walk past me as if I was invisible. I totally understand that you & your resources are stretched to the limits on the day the cruise ships come into port but a small amount of care, kindness a smile & a understanding nature would go along way.Your approach to customers as if they bothering you by even being & asking a question leaves alot to be desired and you are obviously in the wrong industry.Very sad because the cafe itself & the food was lovely but very much overshadowed by the two main staff in charge!!! ( on a side note the other staff members doing the food service & cleaning were helpful & happy)So maybe the owner & lady could take some training from their lesser...
Read moreWe arrived at 7 in the morning at island by ferry. As highly recommended for breakfast place, we waited 20min outside to start our journey but it was ended up to have an aweful experience. 1st of all, it meant to open at 730am, owner & employee only turn up 730am, owner opened the door around 742am without any smile, no consideration of ppl waiting outside. We ordered 4 same egg & bacon toast , banana bread & 5 drinks. It was pretty expensive $20 per small bread & bacon & egg. Worst part, when owner received order, he did not check how egg to be cooked. later we realized that we have an option to choose a poached or fried egg. Before food served, I went to kitchen & requested fried egg that only one out of 4 can take poached egg. Owner was not happy & later he came to our table and said that normally people order poached egg and thats normal even though we said no & I commented that he did not check our preference when we ordered to him. He said he travelled so many place and people normally took poached egg for bacon/egg toast. How rude he is !!! then we had 1 served with poached egg. after my mother in law finished her food without any joy due to all hassel , we were waiting around 15min mpre. and later owner came to our table to demand we need to pay $18 dollars for 3 eggs to be fried. We did not have any option to decide poached egg which we paid before. It was so poorly managed by owner on whole situation & timing wise . In the end we got 3 services with not well cooked fried egg which extra $18 in 830am after we waited more than 50min. we spent approx. 150 dollars without any good memory of that place. people who served are nice & pretty cozy restaurant but owner was horrible to make our 1st day morning of island not pleasant, hope he has more soul & flexibility...
