Let me tell you about this hidden culinary treasure in Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island. A delightful find indeed! I popped in for a quick bite and was pleasantly surprised by the delicious veggie burger that left my taste buds wanting more. Pairing it with a refreshing cold-pressed juice added that extra touch to my meal experience. The vibe in this place is simply fantastic, exuding warmth and friendliness. The staff here are so welcoming and hospitable, enhancing the overall ambiance. This charming cafe is an absolute gem on Kangaroo Island. My breakfast experience was nothing short of amazing - the food was not only super yummy but also made with great attention to detail. The decor and atmosphere are inviting, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a meal with friends or family. I can't wait to return and savor more of their delightful offerings. Trust me, you won't want to miss out on this culinary gem during your visit to Kangaroo Island! The quality and freshness of the food here are truly exceptional. I had the pleasure of dining outdoors in the lovely weather, adding to the overall dining experience. The sandwiches were bursting with freshness and flavor, as were the salads. The staff's friendly and attentive service only added to the cozy and comfortable atmosphere of this charming spot in Penneshaw. Whether you're in need of a coffee pick-me-up or looking for some good food to recharge on your island explorations, this place is an absolute must-visit. Don't miss the chance to treat yourself to a delightful culinary experience at this wonderful cafe. Alex

Millie Mae's Pantry was our last port of call after being on Kangaroo Island for three days. We had made a slow drive back from Kingscote to suck up some last vibes, before atching the ferry back to Adelaide, Millie Mae's Pantry is a quaint and quirky place with options for both inside table and outside garden seating. On a grey and bleak day, we felt it better suited to stay snug inside, where a fun range of cards, smells, creams, candles and giftware had its own section for perusal. It did take a long time to get my coffee and breakfast, which was kind or stressful, as I had left an hour to get the ferry not far from the Millie Mae's Pantry. I thought we had ample time. And there weren't that many people eating or drinking there either. When I checked up on the kitchen it seemed like there was not much urgency. I suppose time stands still on Kangaroo Island. The location must look really pretty in the Summer, as it does have a rustic, country vibe. And I did enjoy my rushed breakfast in the end. Just leave yourself ample time for your meal. I have a feeling you'll need to. But my coffee was less exciting. I had had better over the last few days.

We had lunch here before catching the ferry back to Cape Jervis. As per their blackboard we advised them that we had a ferry booking in 50 minutes. it took about half an hour for the food to come to the table leaving us barely enough time to eat. It didn't matter for me because I'd ordered the frittata - it was awful. Nothing like any frittata I've cooked. Covered in burnt greens (spinach or rocket?) and with a rubbery texture. I had a couple of mouthfuls and left it. The kids burgers were very average - dry no chips provided. Nowhere near as good as the Penneshaw Pub. I would have gone to the Pub if I had known. The only saving grace was the "bubbly bee" drink I ordered, very refreshing. Oh, and I ordered 3 thick shakes for the kids but only milkshakes arrived. All in all, a memorable experience, but not in a good way. Not a great way to end a wonderful week on beautiful Kangaroo Island.

RUDE, RUDE, RUDE !The guy that runs this place is rude, unapologetically apathetic & definitely doesn’t count on any repeat business. My sister prebooked a table the week before our visit to the cafe.We arrived on Kangaroo Island by cruise ship & as I have a physical disability she booked ahead to make our day relaxing & easy..When we arrived at the cafe, the were extremely busy, that’s great, happy for them & more than happy to wait & be seen when it was our turn. When it came to our turn my sister told the man at the counter we had a booking, he looked around & said can’t you see how busy we are , we don’t do bookings, especially on days that cruise ships arrive so I highly doubt you even had a booking, so he practically called us liars. He’s like “look around & if you find a table then come back & order” & then turned away to service the people behind us as he decided the conversation with us was over..Totally rude, dismissive & careless.!Obviously he doesn’t count on repeat business as he couldn’t give a rats bum if we were there or not! If he was polite or helpful or accommodating at all we would have felt very differently about our interaction. And we were not alone a lady with her husband in a wheelchair also was treated very rudely & a few other patrons were also astonished by the lack of service & general care factor of the male owner! And a special shout out to the young lady with the blonde dreadlocks too, who I asked a question, didn’t even acknowledged me & then continued to walk past me as if I was invisible. I totally understand that you & your resources are stretched to the limits on the day the cruise ships come into port but a small amount of care, kindness a smile & a understanding nature would go along way.Your approach to customers as if they bothering you by even being & asking a question leaves alot to be desired and you are obviously in the wrong industry.Very sad because the cafe itself & the food was lovely but very much overshadowed by the two main staff in charge!!! ( on a side note the other staff members doing the food service & cleaning were helpful & happy)So maybe the owner & lady could take some training from their lesser...

We arrived at 7 in the morning at island by ferry. As highly recommended for breakfast place, we waited 20min outside to start our journey but it was ended up to have an aweful experience. 1st of all, it meant to open at 730am, owner & employee only turn up 730am, owner opened the door around 742am without any smile, no consideration of ppl waiting outside. We ordered 4 same egg & bacon toast , banana bread & 5 drinks. It was pretty expensive $20 per small bread & bacon & egg. Worst part, when owner received order, he did not check how egg to be cooked. later we realized that we have an option to choose a poached or fried egg. Before food served, I went to kitchen & requested fried egg that only one out of 4 can take poached egg. Owner was not happy & later he came to our table and said that normally people order poached egg and thats normal even though we said no & I commented that he did not check our preference when we ordered to him. He said he travelled so many place and people normally took poached egg for bacon/egg toast. How rude he is !!! then we had 1 served with poached egg. after my mother in law finished her food without any joy due to all hassel , we were waiting around 15min mpre. and later owner came to our table to demand we need to pay $18 dollars for 3 eggs to be fried. We did not have any option to decide poached egg which we paid before. It was so poorly managed by owner on whole situation & timing wise . In the end we got 3 services with not well cooked fried egg which extra $18 in 830am after we waited more than 50min. we spent approx. 150 dollars without any good memory of that place. people who served are nice & pretty cozy restaurant but owner was horrible to make our 1st day morning of island not pleasant, hope he has more soul & flexibility...
