Myself and fiancee dined for Christmas dinner ....evening meal.We were told there was a double seating for the lunch but not advised similar applied to the evening meal. This was our one and only Christmas meal and were disgusted when told to vacate the table after one hour. We weren't given time to finish our drinks....and only offered directions to the bar. That was certainly not the Christmas spirit we wanted and quite frankly ruined our experience. By the way, about 10 minutes of that one dining hour was spent in the long queue getting served from the buffet. The meal itself was not what was expected. The food warmers were cool and the piles of meat way below what I'd call a healthy temperature. The vegetables appeared overcooked. Salads were ok but by the time I got my serve some bowls were empty and others severely bedraggled. On a positive note, management sympathised with our plight and saw us right that way but really our Christmas Day had...

I had an exceptional experience at Zone Restaurant & Bar, so much so that my partner and I dined there twice during our 4-day trip to Kangaroo Island. The dinner was exquisite, set against the backdrop of the beautiful seaside scenery. Every dish was executed flawlessly, with the Beef Ribs standing out as particularly memorable.

The staff at the restaurant were incredibly friendly, attentive, and professional. They went out of their way to accommodate us, especially considering we had a baby stroller with us. They were proactive in finding us a suitable seating arrangement and checked in with us after the meal to ensure we were satisfied with our dining experience.

I highly recommend Zone Restaurant & Bar to anyone visiting Kangaroo Island. The combination of outstanding food, picturesque setting, and exceptional service makes it a must-visit. We certainly plan to dine here again on our...

“Hi, can I have your phone number so when you leave without paying I can ring you” is a weird way to start a conversation. Greeted by someone who barely looked up from what she was doing to say hello, cutting straight to the chase with if we have a booking and then asking for my phone number (and when I asked why it was because “people have been leaving without paying”…). So I’m immediately assumed as being untrustworthy?? What a terrible way to start an interaction. The food was nice, view terrific (they could have turned the tables of four people around 90 degrees so that everyone gets a bit of the view though. Rather than two people getting a fantastic view and two people staring at a wall). If you had nice service this place would be fantastic,...

I had dinner here with family. Booked in for a table for 4. The waitress took us to a table close to the door, I asked her if she could find another table close with the ocean view, she said they are all reserved. When our food arrived, The butter chicken and rice was the worst I have ever eaten. Couldn’t eat it at all. Don’t even get me started with the Naan bread. We also ordered slow cook beef cheeks. The mash potatoes that came with it was so buttery, the beef tasted awful, too chewy. Overall we wasted 125 dollars for nothing. We could have as well just ordered pizza.

Arrived at 7:00 Friday night, it was quite busy there. Atmosphere was great. I ordered a main dish sword fish as entree, slow cooked beef short ribs and black angus porterhouse were main dishes. Sword fish - a bit dried, and fishy(not fresh) Beef ribs - portion was small compared to other review’s pictures posted on. Sauce was a bit blend and watery. Surface of rib was over sizzling, it was bitter. Porterhouse - the worst one. I ordered medium rare and came out with almost well done 🙅‍♂️ . Such dish reflects the skill of kitchen🤷‍♂️ . I did not dare to try dessert.

The views are great but not much else is. It has the ambience of a 7-11 (despite the hotel's heritage). The food was cooked well enough, but the menu is unexciting: 5 out of 10 standard mains are burgers or schnitzels. The service was very amateurish (e.g. mains delivered before we had finished our entrees) and the free desert to compensate never arrived. Try the atmospheric Italian bistro across the road, or the Penneshaw Hotel further afield, to see how well it can be done.
