Even though no baking is done onsite, all the food comes in fresh every day around 5.30am. Everything is made up ready to be toasted and the pies, etc, are heated and ready to be served. However, it is still possible to put in a special request, and if it's not too onorous, the staff will do their best to serve it. I requested a cheese and egg croissant, and though scrambled eggs would have been nice, the fried egg worked OK as well. The staff are friendly and if it's not busy they are happy to have a chat.

Dropped in to the bakery this morning for a cup of Mocha & a chocolate doughnut. The mocha was devine, the choc doughnut was fresh, light & fluffy. While there I also bought some local honey. The staff were friendly, helpful & professional.

What a treat, a pleasant culinary surprise in Strathalbyn, spectacular selection of tasty pies fresh sandwiches and seriously really good coffee. Biggest plus was Pecan Pie, generally so hard to find but this one was worth the trip.

A very disappointing experience from the moment I walked in. I’ve recently relocated to SA and visited the Bakery with my 12 month old yesterday to be met with the most unfriendliest and most unhelpful customer service by one particular member of staff. I walked in and at first the atmosphere was friendly enough but as soon as I was greeted by the employee she was unfriendly and did not come across eager to help or serve. I asked for a small plate of quiche and a side salad for my baby to eat. I felt that she was going to too much trouble to organise this and when I asked for a freshly made ham and salad roll for myself, her overall body language and attitude made me feel this was too hard for her. When she asked if there was anything else, I showed her the small Mount Franklin water bottle in my hand and asked for an iced latte. I was met with a hard stone faced attitude and zero conversation, even after I tried to make small chat over the counter to lighten the atmosphere.

When I got my baby settled in her high chair (I might add that this request for a high chair also came across as too difficult too), I went over to the barista area to ask if I could have a disposable cup or take away cup for me to put water in for my baby. The barista was out of ear shot and I went to help myself and caught this particular staff members eye as she was bringing our food to our table. I asked her if I could help myself to one and she just looked at me with real annoyance and said “Yes I suppose so…”. She then went on to ask me what I wanted it for, and I said I’d like to put some water in it for my baby to which she replied, “I’ll get you a glass.” Um, what?

The barista came over with our coffees who also turned out to be the manager. I informed her of my experience with her member of staff to which she apologised for and treated myself and baby to a lamington on the house. I appreciate greatly the manager doing her part to turn around the experience and the token gesture, but if the employee continues to have this overall demeanour with future customer’s, you’ll be running out of cakes on the house quickly. I feel people in the community need to be aware of what they can expect from this particular member of staff who was in her mid to late 40’s, slim build, brunette who wore in her hair in a top bun and from memory, had a nose piercing. I’m not particularly concerned about singling her out as being a new Mum, it’s hard to get out and about with a baby as it is, and once we are out, we’d really like the experience to go as smoothly as possible. I would’ve really appreciated some kindness and friendliness on our lunch time out, as these opportunities are too far and few between. Otherwise friendly customer service from all other members of staff and coffee was fantastic, thank you.

Today I took my Mum for a drive to Strathalbyn. We ventured into the Book store next door, which was amazing. As we left we decided to sit and have a quick meal at the Corner Bakery. I have purchased from here before but only had Kranskys'. Today it was busy, so we opted for Chicken Pie and a Potato Pie (last one in the warmer) we also ordered some Iced Coffee, with Ice cream & Cream. This was not the sort of meal we normally would choose but we felt we were after a quick meal, (sat in) as we were having a relaxing day trip. Our pies came on a plate, and we collected our cutlery and the Ice Coffee's were brought to our table. We chose not to have sauce. The chicken Pie was dry but the flavour inside was a little salty but it did have flavour. However, the Potato Pie was absolutely revolting....when cut open the filling just oozed out, like runny cow manure...the Potato was quite crusty which didn't do nothing to enhance the disappointment of the tasteless muck inside the Pie. There was only one tiny piece of maybe mince meat, in all the runny muck....we believe it could have been the dregs of the whole batch. It tasted so bland, no flavour what so ever, it was so awful to look at and a horrible experience. We both left the discarded and dissected pies on our plates. We agreed my Pie look like a Cow pat freshly dropped!! It honestly was so disgustingly awful we needed to wash it down with our somewhat dismal tasting Ice Coffee's which seemed watered down and also very bland. I usually love Potato Pies, but today I have been scared by this experience & even though it may have been the last slop in the pan, and placed in the pie, it was seriously a lack of love and attention to detail which denied me a good tasty experience. We felt the whole experience was dismal, flys were landing on our table which didn't add to what we thought was going to be a great little moment in our adventure to Strath. Personally I don't think I will ever eat there again, as I now fear the thought of even eating another Potato Pie EVER!! I hope the owners act positively from my experience and take the time to check what is going into each ladle & what should have been some hearty meat chunks and good tasty gravy, plus a soft billowing Potato topping. If this is your normal recipe, please change it, it was tasteless, sloppy and disgusting. As my Mother said, 'theres' no love in that Pie what so ever. Don't buy the Potato Pie or order an Ice Coffee. Just terrible. I felt so 'let down' we walked away and both agreed never again?? !!! Our stomachs felt disappointed & did not enjoy it and we both actually feel this experience has scared us for life atm. YUK!! Not an enjoyable food stop at all....

ONLY GIVING ONE STAR BECAUSE I HAVE TOO TO LEAVE A REVIEW OTHERWISE YOU WOULD GET NONE. AND THET DONT READ THERE REVIEWS AND IF THEY DO THEY ONLY REPLY TO GOOD REVIEWS.The tall lady with short hair and glasses, you are so rude and disrespectful. Each time you have served me there has been no hello or thank you, i was reading the board deciding what i wanted and several times in a row even after i said i am looking you kept pushing me to order. A guy came in you knew and you smiled and said hello mark then went back to being rude. You really need to improve your customer service. I am a local too and I will not be going there ever again and i will be telling people not to go there. Worst service i have had from anyone. And for those that don't know, most of there stuff is reheated

update.... And there it is everyone, i get called a coward for posting a honest review. That is what these people think of there customers. Why would i go to management when i was treated so rudely. To say i am a coward for posting a honest review shows exactly how pathetic you really are and how little you think of people. I find your post selfish, rude, arrogant, and out right pathetic. . As you said after your insult,...
