Really disappointed in this place as it has potential to be awesome. The bartenders are super uninterested in talking to anyone. I’m on a solo work trip and like experiencing new places on my own. Served by 3 different male bartenders, all say ‘what would you like’ and then that’s it. No hi, how are you? or how’s your day going? I ordered a paddle and tried to make small talk while they made it, ask how long they’ve worked here, etc, but got very blunt responses. Just seems like they don’t want to be there. The venue is beautiful and so spacious, backyard with kids playing around and families enjoying the atmosphere. The food however is atrocious. Pizza was like cardboard. $28 for 5 rotten prawns. God knows how old these are. Black, bruised spotted body, disgusting inside, cloudy eyes. I can’t fathom what has gone so wrong within management or the head chefs responsibilities for this poor quality to be allowed. This is the sunshine coast. There is no excuse for this. Do better.

I reviewed this venue 5 months ago and gave them a 5 Star review. Since then we have been here maybe a dozen times. Unfortunately each time we’ve gone the food has gotten progressively worse (in my opinion). The time before, a few weeks ago, we had to get a refund on the food as the Fish was oozing oil and the chips weren’t cooked. Today we had the cheese burger which was bland, the sauce and the pickle the only things that had flavour (the chips were good). The Vermicelli Noodle Salad, w/- Spring Rolls was even more disappointing. Lots of noodles with a bit of grated carrot, the broccolini was just a few pieces of stalks thinly sliced. The salad and the spring rolls were also bland. The dressing had an aftertaste of fish sauce. No dipping sauce for the spring rolls. $75 for 2 drinks and 2 lacklustre meals - definitely not worth it! I regretfully can no longer recommend Masto’s and won’t be returning.

Firstly, we loved that Matsos kept the Joes facade. The original bar at the front is a nice touch. We wandered through to the huge shed style brewery, grabbed a table and ordered. The place was full, it was extremely hot the day of our visit and given the temps it was still comfortable. We started with a beer paddle but I’m a fan of the mango beer so I knew what I wanted! We ordered Octopus, Fish & Chips and the Green Salad - all of which was brilliant. The staff were ran off their feet but their attention to detail was brilliant when they realized that our salad still hadn’t arrived. The supervisor came over, asked us if we were still waiting on it, checked in with the kitchen and immediately refunded us without us even asking. The venue is cool, the grass area out back would be great on a bit cooler day but offers a kid friendly option, the beer, service and food on point!

Still sorting out processes- won’t be back soon

Party of 6 adults and 5 kids wanted to go for lunch. Hopped on website in the morning to book. Website said “walk ins only. No same-day bookings.” Fair enough. Arrived and found free table inside under a fan (one member of party heavily pregnant). Five minutes later waitress arrived to put a ‘reserved’ sign in table and said we had to move because table was now booked for a party coming in 20 mins time. Ok. A bit annoying but we got up, no problems. No more seats inside so moved to outside tables under a tree in shade. Food was then ordered and paid for, only to be told it couldn’t be brought up to table under tree and we had to order it to random table. Strange, weird, but whatever. Put down a random inside table number and went to tell randoms that our food would be ordered to their table, and to please wave to us when our food arrived to them and we would come and get it from them and bring up to our own table.

While waiting for our food (keeping an eye on random table, relying on their wave to let us know our food has arrived), a member of our party found another free table inside, sat down and notified us. Our whole party began to move back inside to sit at inside table. Along comes a waiter again, to slap on a ‘reserved’ sign. We could not sit there. What?!? It then started to pour and we all got drenched, alongside half our food which we had just picked up off the random people’s table. All moved inside drenched. Kids were starving and dripping wet. No tables so we sat on stairs in quiet area to try to get the kids fed. Staff member then told us off for sitting on stairs. By this time we’d had enough. One member of our party spoke with the manager (which to his credit was lovely and gave us a refund with no questions asked). We then left, a very hungry, wet and frustrated party. We are locals and were looking forward to supporting local, but we won’t be back in quite some time. Hopefully some more thought is put into the processes around how patrons are received, because it definitely has potential to be a...

I live locally and Took my family there for lunch today. The overall experience was quite disappointing. Firstly I ordered four hamburgers for the children waited a little while and ordered a few entrees and then 10 minutes after placing that order ordered our main mails for three of us. Next thing to My meal of fish and chips arrived. I got to eat it on my own. It was soggy and the fish was not of good taste. There is another review on the fish and it looked nothing like what I was served . Mine was a 4/10 at best I’d say it was just a heat up frozen Item. Then the entree arrived whilst I was eating . They were ok . After the entree the children’s meals arrived. The chips were overcooked. Eventually another main meal came out. Then I thought it best to go to the kitchen to see if my daughter’s meal would arrive soon . I met with the fellow at the console and asked him to check the meal for my table. He was very rude and abrupt. Mate there it is coming now … I don’t go out to lunch and have meals delivered all over the place. $260 later I expect quality food and good service . The bar was also short staffed. I would not recommend this place to anyone and in fact today spoke with another local who also would not recommend it. The venue would not rely on local trade and can get away with this carry on for travellers who would prob not visit again anyway. This all comes due to bad management and training of staff. Not coming back and will...

We thought Matsos lacked uniqueness, being like a trillion other brewys we have on the coast. The atmosphere felt like we were in a hot food hall.

My mum ordered a glass of red wine, which came in a beer glass. My mum prefers her wine out of a proper wine glass.

I ordered a mango beer but was given the ginger beer, which was ok. Think just a genuine mistake, however I still like to have what I order when I’m paying good money.

We ordered a garlic bread while waiting for our mines. Didn’t not enjoy it. The garlic butter was in a heap on small area of bread not spread nicely.

My mum ordered the steak. She was disappointed there wasn’t the option of choosing a preferred sauce. The salad it came with was pathetic, was a few green salad leaves and that’s it. However the actual steak was nice and cooked well.

I ordered the pork ribs. Which were very tasty and well cooked. The salad it came with was ok.

We ordered it all together however the meals did not come out together. My mum got her stake significantly earlier than my pork ribs. I like my meals to come out together, so enjoy it with whole I’m with.

Overall was fun to try, but I won’t be...
