Wheelchair Accessible? NO!
I was accompanying my elderly mother who is in an electric wheelchair, to a family dinner. We drove into the upper car park to find no handicap car park. Nor was there a handicap park in the street directly outside the restaurant. We drove to the lower car park where there was one disabled park. It was immediately next to the entrance to the pokies room. The door was not adequately wide enough to get a wheelchair through and hold the door open at the same time! I asked the bar staff how to get up to the restaurant with a wheelchair. They looked surprised and confused and directed us to the footpath. We made our way to the footpath to find it dangerously uneven and very steep. My mother attempted to ride the electric chair up the hill and hit one of the uneven parts of the pavement and her chair tipped, spun around and she started falling back down the hill. Fortunately I was there to catch her and eventually some gentleman on the street came to our assistance. My brother came to help and we became aware there was a wheelchair lift at the upper car park to get down the stairs. When a staff member finally came we were told electric wheelchairs are not allowed on said lift!! After a lot of manoeuvring we finally arrived at the restaurant. My mother was very scared and shaken but she just wanted to enjoy a nice night out with her family. Which she and anyone else with a disability should be able to do in a relaxed calm manner. We will not be returning to palmwoods hotel after many years of enjoying it.
ACCESSIBILITY MATTERS!!!! This is NOT good enough and was exceedingly dangerous and this situation could have been A LOT...

Read moreIt’s a no for parmi night. In general we have always enjoyed going to the palmy for drinks and a casual dinner. We were very excited when we discovered their parmi night on Tuesdays. We went 3 times over a few weeks to try all the varieties between us and each visit seemed to get worse. Those parmis have a lot of potential and they sound awesome on paper. But what we got was often a schnitzel begging for about 3 times the amount of sauce. We left very kind feedback the second time hoping to keep us coming back but on the third visit. Still missing that wow factor and enough sauce!! Not to mention the bacon on my Benedict was uncooked. These were all very average meals and we will go looking else where for a decent Parmi night. We also discovered the chef can be pretty unprofessional after the wrong Parmi was keyed in on ordering. When we asked for the correct parmi we were told it would be redone and will be back out in a few minutes. About 20 minutes later when asking at the counter, it turned out he didn’t bother making a new one at all, saying it was our fault we changed our mind???? No, don’t promise a paid meal will be redone and leave your customer there watching the rest of the table eat, only to have to go find out for themselves that it wasn’t coming at all. Having to go home hungry with a refund has left a very bad taste in our mouths. So in a nutshell, that’s 3 locals who will always recommend somewhere else to eat...
