Surfcoast Fish N Grill — Restaurant in Sunshine Coast Regional

NB.Revisited June 2021 and found that the business has changed name and logo. The menu doesn't seem to have changed much apart from some higher prices.

[Original review from July 2020 visit] It happened to be the closest/most convenient fish and chips option to where we were, but oh what a fantastic find Surfcoast Seafood was!

We ordered:

family feast, $80: Cod x6 $9.00 Chips Full Calamari x2 Potato Scallops x6 Chicken Nuggets x6 Medium salad 1.25L Drink

family pack plus, $50: Cod x 4 $6.50 Chips Seafood Sticks x4 Full Calamari Pineapple Fritters x4 1.25L Drink

Everything about this meal was great. The food itself was on point with lovely flaky and well fried fish with good crunch on the batter, moreish chips, very tender calamari, fresh salad... and the real surprise for me was the cinnamon-dusted pineapple fritters - delicious!

Service/inclusions wise we were proactively given extra containers to use as plates, cups for our drinks, and a choice of two tubs of sauces per pack. The salad also includes a dressing. Basically we couldn't have asked for more.

Value wise was also great; for $130 we had food designed for 10, but more than sufficient to share amongst our group of 13 (7 adults & 6 kids). Believe you me I went for seconds, and in the end we still had some food leftover. For an average of $10 per head this was a stunningly enjoyable and value for money feed. This use to be our favourite fish and chips on the coast, when family would come for a visit we would come here and eat it across the road. WHAT has happened 😳 Last couple of times it hasn't been great to say the least You USED to have the best calamari I'd every had and last weekend we had it and completely different. Use to be so succulent with light seasoning, it wasn't crumbed. First time we threw it out as it was so dry, it was like just eating over cooked bread crumbs. We ordered 2 different grilled fish we had no idea which one was who's, we got no forks, its not like we could grab some ourselves. We don't normally need a fork but for grilled fish it would have been nice to at least offer, no napkins and apparently they don't even have napkins cause I heard someone ask for one and they were told they don't have any?? Your serving oily finger food people need a napkin. Its such a shame, there used to be a lady with dark short hair that may have been the owner that was amazing and food was great, I'm guessing she left or sold the business. Me and my family came to this establishment on Thursday And boy was the service terrible we ordered the snapper and chips which was grilled and the cod and chips which was crumbed first of all the snapper was absolutely disgusting and from the first look at the fish it looked like it was still swimming!
