Service, atmosphere and coffee was great. The traditional curry and rice was a very plain tasting dish, the meat was mushy, rice was cooked well. Dipping sauce was great, overall presentation sub par. Bunny Chow dish was presented well, bun was good, dipping sauce was great, portion size was decent. The curried mutton filling was lacking flavour and felt like it was just missing something. I usually give positive reviews and would've loved to do one here, but it really didn't meet the ratings expectations.
Hey Team, my wife and I go out for brunch/lunch several times a week on the Sunny Coast and love trying new locations to experience different cultures food. We travel overseas a lot, always seek traditional, full flavoured style cafes/restaurants and not keen on trying cultural themed establishments that have been changed to suit a more westernised palette. In the past we have really enjoyed traditional African style food. Having run multiple businesses ourselves we completely understand when places do this to keep locals coming back.

Read moreThis is definitely one of my favourite places for breakfast and also the occasional lunch. I like a big breakfast and this is the Kalahari breakfast just delivered to my table with a nice flat white. Staff here are Always friendly and ready to serve. Sometimes I have the toasted chicken sandwich with home made mayo a beautiful flavour for a light lunch and end up ordering another most timesđ. They also do great salads. Just a small shot of the inside as tables to the left are all taken. This afternoon I am making a nice curry vegetable with their South African spices - looking forward to that for dinner. This week had a beautiful roast chicken and salad lunch so have added a picture . Iâve had this before and itâs Very nice , very fresh and a good size meal âwith a coffee or a nice frappa...
Read moreWe were pretty excited to have some good South African grub, but landed up disappointed and had two bites of one of the dishes. We ordered smoothies, that were great and the service was good. Then our food came and it was a huge disappointment. We ordered traditional vetkoek and a bunny chow. The lamb bunny chow was watery, meat was grey and completely lacked flavour. The vetkoek itself tasted okay, but the mince was dry and only had a little flavour. We landed up sharing the vetkoek because we were hungry and had paid a lot of money for it all. We couldnât eat the bunny chow as we really couldnât stomach it. Disappointing and wasteful for $36...
