A Hidden Gem of Authentic Sichuan Cuisine(RECOMMANDED!) If you're looking for a true taste of traditional Sichuan cuisine, this restaurant is an absolute must-visit. Every dish here bursts with bold, layered flavours that transport myself to the experience of ChengDu.
The house-made cured meats and sausages are a standout—deeply seasoned, smoky, and full of character. Each bite carries the unmistakable fragrance of Sichuan spices, with a lingering savouriness that leaves you craving more.
The braised pig trotters are simply divine. Slow-cooked to perfection, the skin is gelatinous and glistening, while the meat melts effortlessly in your mouth. It's rich, yet not greasy, with a satisfying depth that only comes from hours of patient cooking.
The stir-fried dishes are masterclasses in wok hei—that elusive "breath of the wok" that gives Chinese stir-fry its signature aroma and taste. From crisp-tender vegetables to fiery chilli-laced meats, every plate arrives sizzling, smoky, and packed with punchy, umami-forward flavour.
Even the mapo tofu deserves special mention: silky tofu bathing in a crimson, aromatic chilli oil, with the numbing tingle of Sichuan peppercorns dancing across your tongue. It’s the kind of dish that wakes up all your senses and keeps you reaching for the next bite.
This place doesn’t just serve food, it also serves a story, a memory, a deep-rooted culinary heritage. Whether you’re a Sichuan native longing for a taste of home or a spice lover eager to explore real Chinese food, you’ll walk away satisfied, maybe even a...
Read moreHaven’t been to this place for some time. I think they’ve changed owner. Staff are quite rude and loud now compared to the previous owner. This kitchen staff who seems to be the owner has 4 strings hanging from his forearm and they are touching all the ingredients every time he moves pass them. The toilet is disgusting with urine all over the floor.
We visited this place with our baby, while we are happy to have our baby sitting on our laps, we were seated at the table right in front of where the dishes are coming out. They knocked on my partner and baby a few times within 5 mins from when we were seated. We tried changing to a different table once we saw one became available, the waitress said she can’t make the decision, I will have to talk to the guy in the hanging strings shirt who kept asking me to wait.
The rice dish we got was very salty despite eating the rice.
I was so looking forward to visit this place again but left with huge disappointment. I don’t think I’ll come back again.
No, I do not recommend anyone...
Read moreHidden gem in North Strathfield that is not in the main bustling food area. Outside of the restaurant, it looks slightly ambiguous and suspicious to the Chinese eye (Ok for untrained eye LOL). Once you step inside, the aromas of spice, the tightly squeezed seating arrangement with oily tables and finally the nonchalant greeting from the chefs/waiters, you somehow know an authentic meal is lying ahead. The sweet crispy skin duck was a highlight. I can eat the whole thing by myself - this is seriously some GOOD duck! All other dishes were just right 👌🏻! The only dish that let this place down was the steamed beef with glutinous rice which if it had beef inside, I wouldn’t know as it was like looking for a needle in a haystack. Come and order anything but this. Strongly recommended! No...
