Am doing this one with love cause these guys. Well, they did they’re pho with love. Pho-king hell. This is the Pho-ly grail in my humble o-ph-inion this is the ph-eak of the Pho mountain. 🏔️
Now I love pho like we all do here at the Sydney Pho Appreciation Society.
I have to say as a ca-phe-at, that I’ve tried pho in many corners of the world. It’s a pho-universe out there, I’ve tried pho in Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane on the GC, New York, Mexico City, Honolulu, Berlin, Manila, Medellin y Bogota, Colombia, Colombo, Bali, Bankstown, Canley Vale, Cabramatta, Ho Chi Minh and Hoi An, Texas, LA and you get the pho-int…I’ve had pho all around the globe, pho brings us together and pho it should. It’s a dish that’s warm and hearty and yes well these guys have hit the phõ on phõ head. In a petrol station in Mounty County Mt. Pritchard down Elizabeth Rd from Livo, hole in the wall corner of the world, they have perfected pho.
I got the Pho X large and asked the Vietnamese grandmother for bone marrow. In maybe 5 mins or so it was served up Chef they called (my name is Jeff but it’s doesn’t matter cause they actually called me) and smiled and handed me my tray with this bowl of pho heaven. It was all on point. The lemon was cut without seeds, just the right amount of Basil and I was wondering where the chilli oil was because all they had was Sriracha and Soy etc on the tables but that’s cause they made the oil themselves, here or at home, with love, they handled it over and it was all over.
The beef balls were genuine and good. The strips of beef plentiful, the marrow oooooof so much and so tender and nourishing. The noodles perfectly soft but not too soft. It was all so balanced. I ran out of chilli oil but thought you know what I’m going to grab the ‘chefs dipping sauce’. I got it from who I believe was the true blue Vietnamese Aussie pho-la (fella) who started the place with clearly the help of his mother and grandmother or just some lovely Vietnamese women who can cook. The chefs special dip he gave me with pickled garlic. Real cloves that are damn good pho-r you. It all works so e-ph-ng well and deserves the Ph-ull per-ph-ect 10/10. I don’t say this lightly and well I don’t do it often in fact I’ve never done it but this pho, is…🍲 it’s pho-netically speaking ph-antas-tick!
It was the full pho-experience and I hope they hold it down pho-r as long as possible so we can all enjoy it for as long as we can. If you want a good nourishing warm meal get here. Nu-ph said, thanks Pho-odies you did it pho me. 🙌🏽
Pho-ck, me. I’ll be back....
Read moreThere was a lot roar and good reviews about this place claiming to be the best pho in sydney if not Australia. Some even said better then the motherland. Some said it was better than pho an, hello auntie and pho taubay.
Fortunately for you I am a 45 year old food enthusiast who has religiously grown up on pho. I am obsessed. So I had to try out 2 foodies.
Don’t be discouraged by this review. I hope you cop it on the chin and makes some improvements for the better. Ideally your Pho would be an average 3 stars. It’s fragrance was nice, almost good despite the broth not being clear. A good pho is a balance of a auroma and flavour from the spices, and how well you cook the broth from the beef bones with a combination of fresh meat and herbs to compliment everything.
The let down was the oily soup, and how we found it too sweet. Lessen the fat from the bones and beef. The sweetness, probably from too much rock sugar was over powering the flavour.
The most disappointing parts was the small portion and chewy brisk beef. The brisk was unchewable. We spat it out. The beef balls wasn’t the best. Raw beef was nice and tender. It is an ok attempt but I can see it becoming better. You are almost there.
You scored two stars because of the biggest let down. And that was your Vietnamese iced coffee. You talked it up so much at the shop, that we had to try some.
My first sip and there was a horrid aftertaste. And you clearly know why. I suggest you used Real coffee and not cheap imitation instant coffee like we saw you use. Probably a Nescafé or trung Nguyen instant coffee from vietnam.
That was the most disappointing part of the meal after an ok bowl of pho.
Another point - It’s a small shop, could be congested with customers and the fact that we had to come over and bring boiling soup over to our table could be disastrous. You need wait staff.
Pete. You need to take criticism better and not attack your customers especially if they give you a low review. Hope things work out for you.
I will be back....
Read moreI heard about this place and its hype from YouTube and turned up with big expectations. We started with the rare beef pho which has a rich tasty flavour as served. Adding the lemon zest and the owners special sauce took it to a level I hadn't experience. To date the best pho I've ever had was about four months ago in Saigon but this one is every bit as good but from a different perspective. The rare beef was so tender and pulled apart easily and the beef balls were good and even better dipped if the special sauce. We also split a satay beef roll and a port crackling roll. These were very tasty. The bread was different to the normal banh mi. Instead of crusty it was kind of just undercooked so it was a little more doughy which was a very interesting twist. My taste buds are still dancing hours later. I would highly recommend this place. It is squeezed in between a Speedway Petrol Station and a car wash. You wouldn't know it was there if you drove past. The signage is unassuming and is absorbed by the other business and the bustling intersection of Elizabeth Drive and Meadows Road.
There was a steady stream of customers. When we arrived we spoke with the owner who ran us through our options and shared his passion for making food. He regularly checked in with us to confirm satisfaction and had a long chat with us at the end of our meal. It was interesting how his business was formed after discovering he had a flair for cooking for friends. His business is purely advertised through word of beef salad and the beef stew. mouth and social media. My Vietnamese friends and advisors of culture and cuisine didn't know it existed despite living in Canley Heights and Canley Vale respectively. I'll be referring them for sure. I can't wait to go back to try the beef salad and the beef stew. I'm told the latter is even more flavoursome...
