Been eating pork rolls for many years all over the world. Turned up here and noticed it is no longer Hong-Ha owned. Thought I would try it anyway. I’m not one to complain. But $17 for classic a pork roll and a water. Then I gave 90% of the pork roll back to the server. Informed her I’m not being rude but it was by far the worst pork roll I’ve ever eaten. The meat was not classic pork it was something I’d never seen. That did not deter, until the first bite. I was intrigued to have a different style roll. Until the taste. The chilli, cold, the roll soggy, lettuce? No onion. This was once an “ok” pork roll shop. I know it was never Marrickville or Hong-ha or Cabra. But was a constant you could rely on. I would please suggest you please go to these places and see why...
Read moreMore expensive than an average banh mi in Sydney, but it's probably due to it's location, so that's understandable. But the quality of the banh mi is below average. I had the lemongrass chicken banh mi, I feel like it was lacking in flavor as a whole. The chicken was seasoned, but there wasn't much seasoning for the rest of the roll, so it tasted like plain salad (lettuce, carrot, tomato) in a plain bread with some lemongrass chicken. I would've expected some mayonnaise, pate, corainder, spring onion or soy sauce to add some flavor but there was none. I also expected better as Hong Ha is a well-known establishment in Sydney and their name is often mentioned when talking about where to find the best banh mi in Sydney, so this experience was...
Read moremassively disappointing. expected big things as having visited the OG Hong Ha in mascot. this was no where near its namesakes standard. first of all the price was min. 8$ per roll, when the mascot shop sells for 5$, annoyed to start with but mildly understandable with bondi rent prices being much steeper, but still v annoying. then there is a min card spend of 10$ so i have to purchase a spring roll to get me over the threshold. eat my roll while waiting for the spring roll and it was underwhelming. massively underfilled comparative to most shops. pickles lacked bite. spring roll eventually came and was just a sweaty oily stodgy mush, just nasty and cheap. sort...
