As Usual — Restaurant in Sydney

When they were still open on Sundays, I really frequent here but with the updated operating hours, they are now closed on Sundays.

First of all, they make great coffee and beverages. From espresso, long black, flat white, or even matcha I’ve tried them all and they are of good quality. Their beans has that hint of fruity notes but medium-full bodied that makes it always an interesting cup.

First time I dine here, I ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken Burger. I love that the focus is not just on the sauce but the overall dish. I loved that the chicken is still juicy and seasoned right. It can be not spicy enough if your tolerance for heat is high. The chips on the side were also cooked and seasoned right: crunchy on the bite, soft on the inside.

On my next eats, I have tried their wagyu burger and their Shakshuka. I think you should order them together if you’re dining with someone or a group. The balance of spiciness and taste of tomatoes on the Shakshuka complement the bread that you’ll dip it with. The wagyu burger was cooked nicely to my liking. The bun used also gives a good texture to the burger.

drinks santa monica filter coffee ($15) 🌟 sooo fragrant and the after taste is amazing, as the description says i could taste a hint of peach, lemongrass, lime, panela and cacao nibs

iced matcha latte ($8.5) could be sweeter, huge serving tho

I've been coming to As Usual since it opened a few years back. It's been my benchmark for good brunch, but recently the past few meals have been disappointing.

I recently had the chicken waffle and it was disappointing - chicken was dry and lacking flavour, overall a bland dish. Sad to see this happen as I've had heaps of good food here in the past.

Service and coffee are still good, but I can't recommend it anymore for the food.

As Usual is one of the few cafes offering both standout coffee and food. Great weekend brunch spot or for a morning coffee during the week.

Great place to buy speciality beans as well; they stock from roasters around Australia and have a selection of filter and espresso options.

Staff are friendly and helpful and service is quick. As Usual is quickly becoming...
