Bakehouse on Penrith
As a business owner myself, I'm appalled by the blatant disregard for basic standards at this pie shop. The coffee machine and till placement in direct sunlight is just the tip of the iceberg, forcing the barista to work in uncomfortable conditions and might I add the inconvenience of the till overheating…perhaps fix that before summer. The owner's habit of leaving staff to manage alone while they flirt with the girls at the cafe next door is not only unprofessional but also sets the staff up for failure. I rarely see the staff get a break… apparently staff aren’t guaranteed to be paid properly too.
The Christmas in July event was a disaster, poorly planned and executed. The drinks were tasteless, and the pie selection was inconsistent - only half were decent. The lack of hygiene when handling pies is a serious concern and a major red flag.
The manager's online persona is friendly, but in reality, they're egotistical and uninterested in customer concerns. I've tried to provide feedback, only to be met with attitude.
This bakery's absence from Google is staggering, making it impossible for customers to leave direct reviews. I'm confident others would share my frustrations.
If you expect basic competence and care, avoid this bakery. The lack of organization, staff support, and customer concern is embarrassing. As a business owner, it's disheartening to see a fellow entrepreneur fail to meet bare minimum standards. I will be taking my money elsewhere...
Read moreYesterday afternoon I bought a loaf of multigrain and a Baguette from this shop. Total cost $16. I will not mention the grain of the bread. It might be a good source of fibre. But the Baguette? To eat the baguette I had to buy a mallet and chisel. I know baguettes are supposed to be crusty; but you should be able to bite into them. The only conclusion: maybe it was yesterdays bread, and baked again. I would not mind paying such high prices if I was buying good bread and was able to eat it. I noticed that the standard of products currently sold at the Bakehouse has gone down. This includes the one the Bakehouse at Leura where I live. Unless this company picked its act up, the word will go around and it will be...
