It's so rare that we order 4 sides for dinner, I'd have thought there was more chance of me walking down the street and not tripping on my own feet. Both. Not because the mains here are as pricey as a Woollahra pub (well, some), but if you, like us, find nothing that grabs you, you have options here. The sweet potato fries are as voluminous as they are standard. The cabbage really well prepared, but do yourself a good turn and leave the chorizo to the side. The broccolini is a bit overcooked, but the dish is well proportioned and tasty. The carrots are a standout. Similarly stellar is the waiter. Young and sparky as a bolt of lightening, he is sensitive, letting us turn down the weird "hits of the 90s" otherwise incongruously wrecking what ambience this unrelieved square space musters. Put a big pot plant in the centre, I reckon. Worth a swing if you have the budget, or take our coincidentally sneaky side alley.

I've never been to a restaurant that has delivered the food so piping hot ever before!! It was refreshing!! Maybe it was because we were on Table 1!!@ I had the Tasmanian Salmon steak (YEAH support Tassie fishing industry!) with sweet potato chips and my wife had the salt & pepper squid with an unusual but delightful salad!! The salmon was beautifully cooked and still piping hot when I got it & the calamari was beautifully smooth not rubbery at all and so tasty it gotta have it!!! We'll be back!! But even though they had a social distancing Marshall complete with Orange vest they didn't do social distancing very well at all - especially when you went to pay the check at the end there was no room for anyone to pass...and they didn't keep their distance but very hard on a busy Fathers' Day!!!

We ordered a poke bowl, portugese burger, cocktail and protein shake and didn't like it. Although they looked appetising, the poke bowl was a bit rank with the raw kingfish and mountain of beans. We were expecting something a bit more like the Japanese style though. The burger was nice but was mostly bun. Then again I think people come here for their breakfast food/brunch. Cocktail was nice but the protein shake was disgusting lol the ones I have at home with just the powder taste much better. Don't know if it was the soy milk or banana or mixed in or what. Staff were friendly and service was quick though which was nice. Vibe of the place felt a bit "uppity" but that's just a vibe. People next to us ordering soy lates and smashed avo while talking about their investment properties lol

I have changed my review but am leaving the original below so that people can see what happened - long story short this was resolved satisfactorily. After providing further feedback to Bryn, the venue manager, we got a really thorough response thanking us for our input, outlining why there was no delivery that evening, and the actions that would be taken in response to the issues we had raised. Really pleased and will see how we go from now.

Original post: We are regular customers at the Bunker Springwood, both takeaway and dine in. We’ve always been happy with the food but were recently quite disappointed with the service and the portions. They offer free delivery Friday-Sunday but when I made an order for delivery on Sunday we were contacted saying there were no delivery drivers. When I went and picked up our order I wasn’t offered anything in compensation. One of the items we got was the crab and prawn pasta. The other item we got was the Portuguese chicken burger. The burger was a decent size but the pasta was ridiculously small - there were only 2 prawns and a small serve of spaghetti. When I called today to give this feedback and suggest they shouldn’t say it is a main - I got the same supervisor who was there on Sunday (he didn’t provide his name on the phone although I introduced myself). I was told that he would let the chef know but that’s just what the portion size is. I recommended the new Bunker in Cranebrook to family and would often recommend the Bunker Springwood to people visiting - I really hope they...

The Bunker is Over-hyped, Overpriced and underwhelming. It's the result of having almost no competition in town. I will say, though, that the staff were attentive, friendly and efficient. It was a full house and the wait for the food was about 30 Min.

I ordered a Southern fried chicken burger and chips for $26, which doesn't include bacon, I like bacon, so I chose to add a rasher of bacon for $5(!), I'm glad I did - it actually was a generous bit of bacon. The chicken "fillet" itself was smaller than the bacon rasher. Maybe KFC has led me to have unreasonable expectations regarding chicken burgers (and that's a low standard to compete with 😂), but the amount of chicken on this burger was slightly more than two KFC chicken nuggets. I wish I'd taken a photo. Even my wife was shocked. The Sauce - Not enough Chipotle Mayo on the burger that you could taste it, and approximately one tablespoon of tomato sauce in little bowl for the chips. A sad burger.

My Wife ordered Asian style pork ribs for $28, a "1/2 rack" and was presented with a small portion - about 10cm x 10cm - of pork ribs, well cooked and tasty, atop some chips, with 2 tiny bowls of condiments. She polished off the whole thing, and that's saying something. It was more like an entree size...

In short, looks like an inviting place but below average food and service and greedy pricing. And now in detail as I do if overly positive or, in this case, negative. We are new to the area and trying new places, but won't be back here. Actually had wondered why it looks so good but was not popular. On arrival the service was unfriendly and short. Then looking at the menu everything seemed so expensive for the style of place, but then also noticed the price was for the very basic version with very expensive extras. Opportunistic overcharging I'd call that. Things like $4 for a gluten free bun or $5 for extra slice of 20c cheese or 50c with of avocado. We wanted Ceasar salad, but the$25 price did not include chicken! That was$5 extra. So we ordered salmon, but they came back 5 mins later to say they don't have any in an unfriendly way. So we got a wagyu burger and the crab & prawn spaghetti. It looked alright, but the burger was a small step above a fast food one and the prawns were overcooked and dry. The pasta and sweet potato chips were ok. If you're from out of town, don't be fooled by the...
