This restaurant has some of the best suburban Chinese food that you will find. The decor inside is a bit old school but that only adds to the charm & after all it is the food that you have come here for & not the decor. It is always nice & clean & is licensed too. The Combination Short (with dumplings) or Long Soup is awesome & is one of the best that you will find anywhere. It is packed with Chicken, King Prawns, Squid, Roast Pork & vegetables along with the noodles & soup broth of course. It comes in a big bowl which is a meal on its own or it is plenty big enough for 2 to share. A great dish. My other favourites are King Prawn Omelette, Prawn Fritters, Beef or Chicken with Black Bean Sauce & Combination Chow Mein. The fried rice is good too. Takeway is ready in 10 - 15 minutes & I always pick it up myself to overcome any unavoidable home delivery delays especially during busy times. But if you insist on using these companies dont leave the restaurant a bad review. I have been a regular customer for over 20 years & the food is much better than other local Chinese restaurants or in The Shire.

In general, the food here reminds me of the well cooked healthy diet I could get in a hospital dictated by doctors, aiming at diabetes, high cholesterol and blood pressure. In short, it’s not oily, not much of MSG nor any other favours … or says … in a nutshell… tasteless. Especially, the hot and sour soup is not hot neither sour … it’s too sweet. The pineapple fry rice is the worst we had around Sydney so far. Interestingly, the stir fry beef with rice noodles (dry style) is the best we had anywhere in Australia so far, despite it too could use a bit more seasoning. Nonetheless this dish should be served with hot sauce anyway so no biggy. Certainly I am not saying it is as good as in eg Hong Kong or Singapore etc, but this particular dish is a whole level above your regular China Town kinda “domesticated” Chinese cuisine. Oct 4, 2024 interesting reply from the owner. I finished everything because (1) I didn’t order a lot. (2) the food is eatable. All I am trying to say was “you’re sitting comfortably at the other end of the spectrum of China Town Syndrome”.

The food you get here is neither fantastic nor praiseworthy, and in hindsight, I should have expected as much from just one look at the drab exterior of this restaurant. We came in wanting only a small bite, so we ordered two entrees - chicken skewers and vegetarian spring rolls. The dirty look of dismay (verging almost on contempt) we received from the owner when she realised we weren't ordering any mains was insulting and unprofessional. In the end, the spring rolls were oily and bland, while the chicken skewers were soggy, served with a confused and confusing coconut dipping sauce. I think it's truly farcical that the owner of a restaurant that produces offensively bland food had the gall to act like our admittedly small order was a waste of time. What a shameful display. Although we didn't sample any mains, given the quality of the entrees, we're in no rush to come back to do so. Indeed, I suggest you too should actively avoid this place.

I agree with the commending reviews that most have posted online regarding the quality. However, your restaurant is one that only caters for Australian tastes. For example: there is no traditional dishes such as congee on your menu. An authentic Chinese restaurant has bowls and chopsticks set out on the tables. Here, I don't see any bowls or chopsticks; ONLY plates, forks and spoons set out. Sometimes when I come in and sit down, there is nothing on the table!

Sometimes your staffs won't even notice this. Sometimes a staff member will remove the oval shaped plate already placed on the table! WHY? If I placed an order for crispy skin chicken, where am I going to put the bones? It is not suitable to leave my bones on the table. It becomes very messy! In future I really do hope that your staffs have the common sense to provide these items. DON'T WALK AROUND AND PRETEND EVERYTHING IS OK, OR WAIT FOR CUSTOMERS TO ASK. (Which is what I have had to do - and believe me it can be very frustrating when it happens time and time again!!) If you run a Chinese restaurant then it SHOULD already have these items set out. This is the traditional way! Diners expect to see the table set up properly.

Sure I understand some people would prefer fork and spoon. So then why not set out both together? When I tried to explain this to one of your staffs, she rolled her eyes. Quite honestly your staffs service can really be very clumsy at times. Even stiff. Sometimes they (if more than 1 on duty) can be busy, or at other times they simply aren't interested in serving you properly!! It really is a shame unfortunately. I really hate saying it.

I strongly suggest you (the manager) to circulate this message to your staffs. They ALL should be aware. Be more alert....

This has been our favourite Chinese Restaurant in the St George & Sutherland Shire area for many years & the food never disappoints, it is always excellent & so tasty.

We love the King Prawn Omelette, Combination Short Soup (one of the best you will get anywhere) & the beautiful Prawn Fritters.

Tonight we went for the King Prawn Omelette, Chicken & Black Bean sauce & Large Fried Rice & it was great as usual. The Omelette was chock full of heaps of beautiful prawns.

We always pickup our own takeaway & it is always ready in 15 to 20 minutes. But if you insist on using one of the food delivery companies who put a big markup on top of the restaurant price & often take forever to deliver then don't leave a bad review for the restaurant when they let you down. I recommend getting off your a**e & picking up your own food. There is plenty of parking close by under the shopping centre on the corner of Russell Ave.

If you are looking for a good suburban Chinese Restaurant you would be very hard pressed to beat Bamboo Court as it punches well above its weight compared to its...
