Baybreeze Cafe — Restaurant in Sydney

Very disappointing. $38.20 for a can of coke, 6 small prawns and bowl of chips. Can only assume positive reviews are old or only from locals. Prices are also $$$ not $$. Service is non existent. Went and asked about a table for one. Told take menu and come back to counter to order. Being alone, I looked at menu and then ordered. The young guy wanted to know where I was sitting, I pointed to table for 2. His response no it was reserved. I said well I’ll work it out when I go out there. Not good enough for him. He told me to go and find a table and come back. I told him I wouldn’t be going out and leaving my personal items unaccompanied on a table and coming back inside. His response was to put me on a table he could see, for 8 people. A complete waste of seating. Menu wasn’t as shown on Google maps. Much more expensive and limited options. Panko prawns were fairly tasteless but chips were well-cooked, which you’d hope at $9.90 for a bowl of chips to go with the prawns. The cafe is well positioned and the food tasty but the service was shocking. Long story short, I made the most grievously terrible mistake of grabbing a table number off an adjacent table, so that I could order our lunch (because I was very clearly and quite officiously advised that I couldn’t order without one and the only available table didn't have one). When the food came the waitress thought it appropriate to lecture me for using a different table number. It was unnecessary and embarrassed me. Baybreeze, if you want table numbers quoted, ensure they're on every table. And if a paying customer makes an innocent mistake, don’t make a huge deal about it. Not what it used to be😞. They changed the menu and took off our favourites so we haven’t been in a little while. But we went today for breakfast today and it was the worst meal I had ever had there. Not even sure what happened. The food was awful and so was the coffee. New management? This once vibrant and busy cafe is a shadow of its former self Disappointing

The food is great, the views beautiful the service friendly and I can bring my baby 🐶 happy days

Update.... the prices have increased significantly the share platter has almost doubled in price since last year and the mezze platter has been dropped from the menu altogether
