Beach burrito closed in Melbourne before I ever got to visit so I was pleased to see the chain is alive and well across the other states and visited a Sydney branch on a trip last weekend. Unfortunately they had run out of chicken but it was nothing a Margarita couldn’t fix. I was seriously envious of the nachos others in my group had ordered which looked amazing. Luckily my tacos were equally delicious but I believe the waitress gave me the wrong advice when I asked (upon learning about the chicken outage) whether I should get an extra beef or prawn taco. She said prawn but the beef was definitely my preferred, super tender and flavoursome. Very pleased with our experience overall and at a loss to understand why they didn’t cut the guacamole in Melbourne

3.3/5* @Feedpunchers on Instagram -The Feed Punchers visited Beach Burrito in Coogee, which is a Mexican dining and bar, hidden through a courtyard on Coogee bay road. -The grilled fish taco, featured a barramundi tasting fish which was delicate and moist, served with cabbage and salsa macha. We felt like the taco was missing notes of citrus and a kick of spice. -The prawn taco was disappointing, it was overloaded with sweet corn and tasteless lettuce, the prawns couldn’t be tasted. -The karate chicken was a fried chicken dish, served with a jalapeño aioli and slaw. It boasted a crispy exterior which had a satisfying crunch. Unfortunately, the slaw tasted stale, there was a lack of spice and the aioli was very scarce. -The pork quesadillas featured; pulled pork, salsa Rona, pickled red onion, mixed cheese and coriander. The pork was succulent and juicy and the salsa was bursting with a tomatoey spice. -The Birria burrito was loaded with rice and beans, the meat was soft, tender but scarce. The Birria sauce tasted quite watered down and lacked in spice, but it had a nice savoury taste. - The jackfruit burrito had promising flavours yet lacked in its execution and balance. The pulled jackfruit had a smokey-sweet flavour with undertones of citrus. Unfortunately, an excessive amount of rice smothered these flavours leaving the palate underwhelmed. -The beef taquitos were a highlight dish, with a crisp exterior shell which housed a juicy, slow cooked beef. The taquitos sat on a bed of lettuce and were topped with a mild salsa, sour cream and pickled onions, which perfectly balanced the dish. -Overall, a very average feed, there were some nice flavours, just some lazy mistakes, a lot of potential. Thank-you, Beach Burrito, Coogee!
