Terrible experience. Walked in to order a takeaway pastry, all three women working were behind the counter more concerned with their chat than serving a customer. I stood waiting patiently and they knew I was clearly there to order but they were more concerned with talking about useless chatter. One finally moved to take my order, doesn't engage, then continues to talk to her colleagues. I waited and waited. She kept talking and talking.

It got ridiculous and I just had to give up and left. All while they kept on still blabbering on. I walked into the St Honore bakery across the street and was promptly served.

And this is on top of a previous time where I clearly and specifically ordered a kale feta roll take away from Berkelo Mosman only to get home and they'd given me a meat sausage roll. It was for a vegetarian and ended up going straight in the bin. At $10each it was a pricey error.

I'm one to never go back to a business after a...

My default local cafe if I want a coffee and some ace baked stuff. It is some of the most reliably great coffee in this part of the lower north shore (they serve Single O beans). The baked goods here are really the main attraction - stupendous breads, croissants, sausage rolls, etc. the pork sausage roll is truly superb (goes great with their home made relish*; just say yes and pay them the extra for it). It is easy to get sticker shock here but whatever it’s really good and totally worth it.

Random points: there is a surcharge if you use Apple Pay, which makes me sad the bags of Single O beans they sell are reasonably priced; this is a good option if you make coffee at home there are some ludicrously expensive items for sale in the fridge they make the BEST hot cross buns ever everyone is nice, chill, and friendly. A great vibe.

*fancy tomato...

I’ve been here many times over the past few years, but not for a few months. As per latest visit, the croissant I ordered tasted like it had been frozen and defrosted, or stored in a very cold fridge.. Cheese was not melted, and it was tasteless, and once lovely shaved ham looks downgraded to something else. Ordered a baguette which came without cheese and was slapped together. The ham and cheese baguettes used to be soooo good. I don’t order coffee anymore, which is fine - everyone has their preferences for coffee, but in the past it’s been lukewarm and tasteless despite ordering double shots. As mentioned in other reviews, it doesn’t seem to have improved. Can only guess that the staff/bakers have changed. Unfortunately we won’t be back. We’ve been customers for...

Recommended. I had a wonderful breakfast at Berkelo cafe. Their almond croissant and coffee were a perfect match, and the prices were quite reasonable. The staff were polite and the cafe itself was clean. They have a good range of bread and treats too. I'll definitely return for more of their delicious treats.
