The third time is the charm, right? In this case, yes if you finally understand that a place is not for you.
I really wanted to like CAV & CO as I'm staying just up the street and really love cafƩs. There's something about the coffee, pastries, sandwiches, service and the unique sense of a community that comes from visiting a cafƩ and perhaps becoming a regular.
Unfortunately my three experiences at this place were not good and the main negative factor to me is the bad customer service. Maybe it's bad luck but on those three visits, the person helping us (or not helping) made us feel like we were unwanted guests. She was slow to acknowledge our presence (even though we sat indoors and there's not a lot of place to hide....) to the point that in all those visits after waiting for some time we ended up getting the menus ourselves. In those visits not once was the place full. Beyond that, there was no effort in anything she did: from the order taking or following up to see if we needed anything else, nothing was a point of redemption.
The place had a sign that they were looking for staff, so perhaps the person working there was the one leaving or simply feeling exhausted. Either way, the service was a huge letdown each time.
I like the coffee, the food is ok and despite a nice setting, the music is annoying and inevitably causes people to raise their voices and make it quite difficult to have a conversation (let alone a relaxing one!).
Perhaps the experience is different if you're there when they first open and you have a take away order. Regardless, I'm not going to bother trying...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI really enjoyed visiting your cafĆ© recently ā it has such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I also noticed the Betta fish on display. Heās such a striking feature and really adds character to the space.
I thought Iād share a small suggestion, as Iāve learned a little about Betta care over the years. While itās true that Bettas can survive in small puddles or ditches in the wild, that usually happens only during droughts when water levels drop. In their natural environment, they actually live in connected rice paddies, streams, and ponds where they can swim much further and explore a variety of plants and hiding places.
Because of this, they generally do even better in a slightly larger home (5ā10 litres), with: ⢠A small heater to keep the water at a steady tropical temperature (24ā27°C). ⢠A bit more space and plants to explore, which reduces stress and shows off more natural behaviors.
These small changes often make their colors brighter and their activity more lively ā which could make your display even more eye-catching for customers.
I hope you donāt mind me sharing this. I can tell you already care about him, and I thought this info might be helpful. Thanks again for providing such a lovely cafĆ© space ā Iām already looking forward to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCame here for breakfast with my kids on a Monday morning. Nice little set up and good offerings in the display. Prices are within the scope of reasonable on the menu. I always wonder why owners don't put prices on the items in the displays like muffins cakes and slices when not only the consumer laws requiring to do so but also imagine going in to coles and nothing has a price attached just would not work. When I order coffee with sugar or sweetener I would expect the barista to add to my coffee, as we know adding the suger after is like cooking pasta without salt and adding it after "it's just not the same" at least ask the question. As for the food I had a chicken wrap with old wilted lettuce in it and did not see it but tasted it, so thats a turn off, the french toast was very dry on the inside which can only be fixed with lots of maple syrup and I didn't like the bursty Perl's as the made it taste artificial. My kids liked the bacon and egg roll and the Acai bowl. So I think it's a nice place and has potential but needs to refine its quality and definitely needs to have prices displayed. So let's see if this review makes...
