2019-10-09 Why I go back to this place because I love it. Took chicken biryani packed last night and at home one bite told me the story. When chicken was cooked so at the base fine chicken bone pieces settles down in the gravy and when mixed with rice --------than it is called -----BIRYANI. I think ????--------------------- IS IT. Especially I have TOOTH fillings on my grinders so was quite painful. That was my dinner. But I still love CHEF CEYLON.
2019-02-20 Hi All I am back - AGAIN COMPLAINING, Got two chicken rolls too with my dinner, had a bite on them it was like leather coated in crumbs so on my first bite my dentures were still on the rolls dug in and my mouth was still moving up and down”” – now don’t laugh on my misery. I hope it will be fixed after reading my review i.e. - “”one day”” no just kidding, by tomorrow- no it will be all forgotten. All small business needs the support of people so please keep supporting them they deserve it and one man can’t look after every minute detail so forget it.
Thanks.
this was my first review.
Boss was busy taking big orders from customers with Mucho’s Dineroe’s and passing them off into the kitchen and then running to the front too. So I went in and sat down on one chair table next to the wall facing kitchen. I had no choice as mine was a small order today to start with. Now this table was not cleared after the previous guest left. I had to bear that, no one came to take order or to clear the table or to place a fresh glass with a bottle of cold water as it was so hot outside that we feel thirsty. I suppose shortage of staff. When that happens it is like running around like a headless chook. Especially today as it was Valentine’s Day. (Also called foresight). I Ordered a cup of tea, told the person on front desk that no sugar in my tea please as I am Diabetic. Tea Arrived and then table was cleared and yet no water so forget it. I am a strong believer of MURPHY’S LAW. Guess what? I took one sip No need to guess IT HAD SUGAR AND too much for me, So I got up and mentioned it at the front desk. Next no apology or sorry or I will get fresh one without sugar – NOTHING. Being busy they were not thinking straight. Now next comes another one I gave him $5 bill, height of it is that he took it and charged me $2.50 for their mistake and gave me $2.50 change. So I said keep the change too and HE DID. I love these situations. They deserve 5 STAR * But I love them they are nice people and the food is fantastic. So have more staff and pay...

We had an amazing dining experience at Chef Ceylon in Toongabbie, indulging in a variety of delicious Sri Lankan dishes. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the clean and well-maintained ambiance, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The restaurant had a warm and inviting feel, perfect for a family meal.
We started with hoppers, which were crispy on the edges and soft in the center—absolutely delightful when paired with sambol and curry. The mixed fried rice was packed with flavor, perfectly cooked, and an instant favorite, especially for our 3-year-old son, who absolutely loved it! He couldn’t get enough, which speaks volumes about the taste and quality.
The kottu dishes were the true stars of the night. The lamb kottu was rich and hearty, with tender lamb pieces mixed into perfectly chopped roti. The chicken dolphin kottu was incredibly flavorful, and the pork kottu had a deep, savory taste with just the right amount of spice. Every dish was cooked to perfection and packed with authentic Sri Lankan flavors.
Beyond the food, the service was fantastic—the staff was warm, welcoming, and attentive, ensuring we had a great experience. It’s clear that the team at Chef Ceylon takes pride in both their food and their hospitality.
If you’re looking for authentic Sri Lankan cuisine in Sydney, Chef Ceylon is a must-visit! The clean and inviting ambiance, flavorful dishes, and excellent service make it a place we’ll definitely be returning to. Highly...
Read moreI dropped into this restaurant for the first time not having any idea what their food tastes like but must say that my first experience was the guy serving food in the front counter was very rude n also gave this weird look. So I ordered this meal which I thot comes in as a thali form which included 1 meat curry, 2 veg curries and rice . The guy started plating up everything in just one plate just like dogs are being served food. I asked him, don't you guys have thali plates where each dish is served separately in sections known as a thali. He said no, we pour everything in one plate. And how disgusting it looked. I told him my brother is a vegetarian so how can we share food from one plate whilst non veg n veg is mixed together. If it's served as a thali in separate sections, then 2 people can definitely share it. But he was not willing to move his butts and serve us food nicely. This is Australia, not Sri Lanka or India. Serve people good food with open hearts in a hygienic and a polite way. Try to please your customers by coming up to suggestions such as listening to what they prefer rather than unpleasing them & making them walk away from your restaurant. We are paying good money so we deserve good service as well. Don't give food to people like dogs, all dishes dumped in one plate together. I went to another restaurant nearby & had the best thali there. Very bad customer service. Never going back...
