MADHURA DINE IN & TAKE AWAY — Restaurant in Sydney

I’ve been a regular at Madhura in Toongabbie for quite some time, and while the food here is consistently good, my recent experiences with the customer service have been less than ideal.

The food itself deserves praise – it’s flavorful, authentic, and clearly prepared with care. Whether it's the dosas or the curries, I've always enjoyed the meals. The chefs truly know what they’re doing, and the taste keeps me coming back.

However, the service leaves much to be desired. There's a particular lady who handles the serving area and cash counter on most days, and her behavior seems to vary drastically based on her mood. Unfortunately, more often than not, she comes across as rude and dismissive. As a customer, it feels unwelcoming and frustrating, especially when a simple inquiry or request is met with an attitude that makes you feel like a burden.

While I understand that everyone has off days, this has become a consistent pattern that negatively impacts the overall dining experience. Good food is important, but good service is just as essential to making customers feel valued.

Madhura has great potential with its amazing food, but I sincerely hope they address the customer service aspect, especially with this staff member. A little more courtesy and attention could go a long way in making the restaurant a more enjoyable...

There is no zero star otherwise I could have given. Very bad experience today. Order one chicken dosa and plain dosa. Plain dosa was awesome. But chicken dosa so many potato and hardly can see chicken. I had one bite and I told boss rude lady on counter “Amma there is no chicken “. They made another dosa for me plain dosa. I appreciated that plain dosa so good. I said “Please mention that in chicken dosa you mix potato”. When time to pay they ask me to pay $19 but dosa price was each $8 we got two so should be $16. It’s not about $3 it’s about the old man and old rude boss lady they lying that we increase the price of plain dosa from $8 to $9.50. When I asked please show me where is written that you increased price? She was so rude and said to me don’t come here again Take your change . I was upset about her behaviour was so rude. She don’t have manners at all. While talking to her another worker came from inside and he asked me what happened? I told him all situation I asked him how much plain dosa he said $8. So I told her why you lying that you increase price. She keep telling me don’t come again.

Just sharing because when you respect people and they disrespect you it hurts.

Today, I was denied service for racial discrimination, and the quantity was way low because I told the serving person to serve me first as I was the customer to be served next. He first asked for my and then moved on to the next person and asked her menu and started serving her. I asked him why he wasn't serving me. He replied that your menu would take time, but it was all already prepared foods kept on display, which he just had to put them together in a pack. He then started serving me but gave very little quantity and lots of gravies only. They dodge on the quantity of pieces they serve. There is no specific quantity they mention anywhere in their menu. But the prices are all the same. I know that he is deliberately doing it as I asked him to serve for me first. He also mentioned me to go to a different restaurant and that he doesn't want to serve me. Disgusting display by the guy. I would not recommend people to get abused and humiliated by their serving staff. You can easily identify him as he is the only guy who never smiles. The other guy who is little shorter has smiling face and gives you better quantity. I think he is the owner. Avoid the rude guy...
