I've been relying quite heavily on this place as a source of Uber Eats, and my review specifically pertains to that service. It's a while since I've been to the venue. Anyway I will happily revise my review once my concerns have been addressed.
The mac & cheese used to be the signature dish of this place. I craved it so much that I would order it up to two or three times a week. I even have a special spork that I use when I order from this place.
The sauce was gooey, there was a crisp breadcrumb crust that had been finished off and toasted with a torch and it oozed so much cheese that the oil would accumulate in the bottom of the pot. There was never enough of it.
Now the sauce could politely be referred to as a bechamel, it's basically just flour and milk. I did get breadcrumbs tonight but they weren't toasted. This has been going on for a few months now and I honestly can't finish the dish anymore, particularly by the time it arrives at my house and is luke warm - and I'm not going to bother reheating that. It's for the bin.
They've taken the one thing that has me coming back for more and completely ruined it. I like the brisket chill and the coleslaw is probably the best deal on the menu, but it's not enough for me to keep coming back. I'm afraid our love affair is over and I'll simply have to move on.
I make a pretty mean mac & cheese myself, it's just far less convenient and not exactly the right portion. Maybe I can freeze it or something, I don't know, it's just really sad when good things that you rely upon disappear like that. It's just...
Read more5 stars for the unbelievable help I received from the doormen / security men during the full house private gig of the lovely Lime Cordiale concert. All bands were utterly sensational, but, the room was filled to capacity and with the Summer heat and intense humidity of a packed venue became unbearable for me. I had to leave during Lime Cordiale’s performance after standing for 3 hours and I became dizzy and had to leave. The 2 security men both took both of my hands and helped me walk and grabbed a chair out of nowhere and got a bag of crushed ice in a towel and put it on the back of my neck with a bottle of crushed ice in water to drink. The care was UTTERLY amazing and I cannot thank them enough. Please, Crowbar, in future, I realise it’s business, but, I was one of 3 women who needed attending to due to heat exhaustion because of the HUGE amount of people in a small capacity. The venue is utterly fantastic and the bar next door is perfect. It’s the fact of cramming SO many in especially on a hot Summer night. Very unhealthy and an O, H & S situation. 200 people sure, ok, not 400+ in one room though. I hope the security men get a pay rise and read my review. As I say, the 3 bands were fantastic. Venue is perfect. It’s the cramming so many people in one room to make megabucks, despite people’s health. It became...
Read moreGreat bar, great music, great vibes, definitely a new go-to of mine. The food was good, not amazing, but definitely better than "passable". It was very tasty, and the cooks knew their stuff, but it wasn't the highest quality ingredients (maccas-like burger buns, for example), and the portion sizes were erratic at best. A burger meal, for example, isn't really enough for a dinner, but the buffalo cauliflower (a side) was too much for a dinner by itself, so be careful you don't accidentally order too much or that tasty, delicious food will go to waste. The music was great, but make sure you buy a ticket for their shows or you won't be able to get into the band room, and it's definitely better to be in the band room. As for the service, everyone, especially the cooks (love those guys) were super friendly and helpful, and honestly, I have no major complaints...
