Not worth the price or wait! 45mins to get our first 3 " special" kothus. Kids egg roti took over an hour to arrive. Finally the meegoreng noodles took about another 10mins-too many peas/frozen vegies. No chicken available for noodles apparently but then we find out they scattered chicken pieces in the special lamb Kothu. Simple Chai tea took about 50 mins. No apology when raising the extended delay between receiving our kothus while the kids are waiting for simple egg rotis for over and hour. Was advised they only have 1 chef and the dishes are coming " next". Not sure why the waitress can't at least help out with the Chai tea, instead of standing around? More importantly not sure why they can't advise rough wait times when ordering in the first place.
The Kothu was OK - not bad but not great either.
Egg roti was good but the chicken curry was too spicy-head was nearly blown off. We ordered roti for the kids(which she knew) again not hard to advise it's very hot as it's really not suitable for the little ones.
Finally no Milo ice either and no fresh juice when ordering. And most importantly no price on the menu, When you go to pay your realise it really isn't worth the price nor the service /wait times. Really can't understand the...
Read moreThe first thing that caught my eye was a very Malay(sian) Nasi Goreng Kumpung (or kampung) and Nasi Goreng Ikan written on the signboard menu on the floor. This felt out of odds with a food truck specializing in Kothu Rotti, one of if not Sri Lanka’s national dish. I soon learned from owner/chef Charles that he worked at a ‘mamak’ in front of Maybank (near Puduraya, KL) for close to 2 years. I digress. I’ve tried Kothu Rottis in many Sri Lankan restaurants across Sydney but I must say this is one of the most refined versions I have tried, which at Charles’ recommendation, was the chicken/lamb Kothu combination, extra spicy of course for me. To finish off the meal, I had the Masala Tea which was the perfect blend of masala and sweetness. Next time I will give the Nasi (and Maggi) Gorengs a go. Must try for anyone craving a late night fix close...
Read moreI would highly recommend El Roi Kothu Corner if you are around Greystanes - Pendle Hill - Wenty area. I have regularly ordered takeaways and dined in on occasions. The taste and quality is consistent and the chef is trustworthy. He prepares the Sri Lankan food and some Malaysian food such as Nasi Goreng / Mee Goreng based on order. It would take around 10 to 20 minutes per order and a little bit more on a busy evening. It is worth the wait!
I wish the team the best and hope they keep up the standard! The price is also reasonable as there is stiff competition from few other stores in the Pendle Hill...
